    Tina greeted her sister Karen and Steve’s wife, Lindsey, before everyone sat down at the table.

    During the dinner Brenda talked non-stop. She talked about her job, about moments from her childhood, about her travels around the world, about her and Tina’s time together, about her and Tina’s plans for the future. Tina watched Brenda’s mouth open freely, words flying out of her mouth like sparks, her rapidly moving lips parting over perfect white teeth. She talked and talked and Tina remembered how Alice had concluded once that Brenda would definitely beat her in chatter competition.

    Bette had never talked this much. Bette had known to communicate without saying a word.

    Tina studied Brenda’s profile, the upturned mouth, pink cheeks, her silky, strawberry-blonde hair, her gentle tan. She looked animated, happy. She seemed to glow. She radiated beauty, sincerity and irrepressible optimism. She was the people person, she loved people and people loved her. She loved life and life loved her. She was honest, loyal and fun. She was simple and uncomplicated.

    Bette had never been uncomplicated. Nothing about her had ever been uncomplicated and simple.

    Tina knew Brenda loved her very much. Tina loved her too. With her entire being she wanted to be in love with her, but she wasn’t and would never be. She knew it.

    Long time ago Bette had taken away her ability to be in love with anybody else.

    The blonde looked at her mother, who was listening to Brenda with enthusiasm flared in her expression, sometimes laughing sincerely, sometimes inserting her own comments. Tina’s gaze shifted over to her father, who was sitting next to Amy. He was smiling gently, also watching Brenda with great interest. Lately it seemed a smile was embedded on his face. Her father had mellowed out with time, especially after he had retired two years ago. He had become a warmer person and had fully accepted Tina’s sexual orientation.

    Tina smiled ruefully to herself. She couldn’t help, but wonder wickedly how he would accept her sexual orientation were she back together with Bette. She remembered how much he had loathed Bette back in the day. She would pay money to see his face when he met Bette again.

    As if on cue, Tina locked eyes with her brother, whom she was surprised to find not listening to Brenda, but watching her back with an unreadable expression. The blonde suddenly felt as though she was caught in the act. Lowering her head, she felt ashamed of entertaining such abusive thoughts about her father.

      Ok, so Tina has long-term girl (thanks god she’s not Helena), but she’s not in love in her. It’s good. What’s not so good that her parents obviously like her girlfriend. And what’s bad – how Bette was cold during their meeting and how quickly she left. I just hope Bette will agree for next meeting with Tina.

      So, waiting for the next!

      Thank you for this wonderful chapter.

      Wow, it was very easy to vanish the ten years of separation between them; after trying to move on and make their lives with other people, just one encounter and their hidden feelings came back, it couldn’t be different, their love was very intense, a love forever.

      But if their love and life together ten years ago was hard due to Bette’s criminal life, and Tina’s fears and family situation; to pick up the pieces and glue them together now, won’t be easy.

    6. Thank goodness, Helena is gone. I’m glad Sam is just friends with Tina. I don’t think I would have been able to stomach them together. LOL. Bette seems a lot more sexier, with her more bruting and mysterious self. I’m siding with Bette right now. Thank you so much for the update. I’ve been looking multiple times a day, since your last update.

    7. Geez so heart wrenching. Tina seems on the out side to have moved on with her life but on the inside she’s a mess..Shes still living the next day ten years back when Bette told her to never come back…nothing has changed for her. Bette was in a bad place when she said it but she really didn’t mean it. She just didn’t want to hurt Tina or bring shame to her by being in that place. She loved her enough to let her go. The love is still there now if they can just get out of their own way and talk., they will find their love again. Thank you very much enjoying your story.

    9. Wow, what a meeting! The tension is palpable from the page. I”m glad Tina kept in touch with Mrs. Carol and kept the property taxes paid. Now, how do they reconnect? Brenda is doomed to lose Tina. What an emotional ride? Keep posting and we will keep reading !
