Let It Happen – Chapter XIV

But, was it enough?  Tina thought.  To the world, she appeared resolute on the outside, but inside her, she was muddling her way through, confused, and even lost, at times, struggling with this inexplicable fear.

If she wanted to live, truly live, she reasoned with herself, then the only reason to do so was because she continued to, somehow, believe in hope.  That love, their love, would be enough.  It had to be.  Her fears said it wouldn’t.  Her hopes said it would.

Just like in Paris, Tina chose hope.

Tina bit her lip; turned to look at Liz, then back again to Bette. “We don’t choose who we love, right?  And I love you, Bette.  I always will, no matter what happens. And I know you love me.”  Bette looked at her, eyes wondering, and tearing up.  Tina was struggling mightily with something, and she had been wondering what it was.  I hope she can see that I’m here for her.  That I can help her with whatever it is that’s bothering her.

Tina turned to Liz, “So I think we could be doing this sooner, rather than later.”

In a shaky voice, Bette asked “T, are you sure? Don’t you want us to talk about it further with Dan?  Think about it, talk about it….”

“Bette, Bette, we love each other.  Forever and eternal, remember?  Yes we can talk about it, think about it, but it won’t change a thing.”

“Besides, this is our decision.  We both want this baby.  And we both want a family… our family.  A family you and I are creating…”

Liz looked on silently.  She was tearing up as well.

“Okay, you two.  One step at a time.  Let’s get the paperwork started, stuff you both have to sign out in front with Julie.  Might as well do that while you’re both here today.  Then Bette, you bring Marcus in, then he makes his donation.  Then let’s get back together, see where we are, ok?  That sound good?”

Tina smiled back at Liz; she saw Bette was still looking at her with questions in her eyes. “Okay Liz. We’ll come by and see you when we’re ready.  Shouldn’t be long from now!”  She turned again to Bette, and squeezed the hand of the brunette that she had been holding. “It’s gonna be alright, baby.”

    1. Please correct (for future writing) the use of the word every for
the correct word….ever! This error pops up frequently in your
      otherwise wonderful stories.

      For example….this page…in the question…”does it every bother you…”
instead of the correct…”does it ever bother you”.
