Let It Happen – Chapter XIV
“Trust me.”

(Two weeks later)
Tina was returning from her evening jog just as Bette was stepping out of their bedroom, head slightly bent to one side as she finished securing an earring onto one ear.
Bette had been invited by George to a black-tie affair in a Fifth Avenue penthouse that was being hosted by a multibillionaire who George wanted to do some business with. The host was rumored to be a staunch conservative, thus even if it was supposed to be a plus-one type of gathering, and George was taking his ex, Claudia (with whom it seemed he wanted to get back together), Bette got the hint that it would likely be better if she didn’t show up with Tina.
The brunette had been extremely reluctant to go, but George had protested, “Bette you know I can’t go to these things without you! You’re my secret weapon! You know I’ll only get myself into trouble if I go “unsupervised!”
Bette had smiled to herself but remained hesitant. Claudia had finally said, voice dripping with Southern charm, “Bette, honey, please do come. Not for him, but for me. Can you imagine me in a roomful of fuddy-duddies. It won’t be George who’ll get into trouble, but me!”
Bette had finally agreed, with some reluctance. To inspire herself, she’d decided on a glamorous look, going to the “it” saloon of the moment to get her hair done, and had asked for tips from the friendly staff there about appropriate make-up to use to go with the look. Then she’d picked out one of her “show-stopper” dresses, a body hugging, asymetrical cut strapless black number that she’d paired with a favorite pair of strapped stiletoes that she knew caused people to stop and stare.
Tina whistled, “Bette, honey, you are stunning!”
Bette smirked.
“I mean you are always stunning… but tonight… mercy, you will break hearts tonight in that outfit! Where..?”
“Milan. Alaiia.”
“New?
“Yeah… you like?”
“Mmmmm…. I do, I really do.”
Tina stepped closer. Bette extended her arms to her. Tina didn’t want to mess her outfit, but she needed to kiss Bette. Just a kiss. Somewhere. She licked her lips. Bette smelled heavenly, too.
Tina smiled naughtily at Bette, who tilted her head to one side, eyebrows cocked, luminous eyes returning Tina’s lustful stare. Tina had been insatiable, lately. More than making up for lost time. But what was she up to now?
