Life Through a Viewfinder

October 2006, Zuma Beach, Malibu
Today I will put down my camera and allow my best friend and partner, Shane, to take over. We’ve co-owned PorterMcCutcheon Photography for 6 years now and I trust her eye and creativity to capture the events of today without fail. We have been taking pictures together since we were kids and she knows how important this is to me. It’s only been 6 months since I proposed to Tina, but we have both been dreaming of this day for over 2 years. We agreed to a simple and quiet ceremony with our closest friends and family on our favorite beach in Malibu. Shane is in charge of all the photos and one of T’s best cameramen from her studio in LA will be taking care of the video footage. My older sister, Kit is my best woman and Alice is T’s maid of honor. They’ve been best friends since they were 5 and met on their first day of Kindergarten. Alice is as crazy as they come, but I have grown to love her dearly and I’m so glad she will be standing with us.
There will be about 25 guests in addition to the wedding party and white chairs have been set out on the sand near the water. There is an arch adorned with flowers at the front for us to stand under as we say our vows. Kit’s band will provide the music during the ceremony and then she will be performing later on during the reception. Having a famous jazz singer for a sister has its perks.
I haven’t seen Tina since yesterday morning when we said our goodbyes before Alice kidnapped her for the day. We decided to go with tradition and not see each other before the ceremony. I stayed with Shane and Kit last night while Tina stayed with Alice and our sweet friend Dana. Dana is a professional tennis player and she and Al have been dating for about 8 months now. I think we will be doing this all again in the near future to celebrate them. It’s so obvious that they are meant to be. I don’t know who is more sappy in love, Al and Dana or Shane and Carmen. I’m so glad our friends have found such wonderful loves and we can share our lives together. I hope one day we can all watch our children grow together as well. Someday…

you tell from my heart entirely when you wanted a drama-free history, life itself is a drama at times and sometimes enjoy a wonderful escape in Romanticism through stories.
