Lost & Found in the Rain
Before Tina can respond, a loud, familiar voice cuts through the cafe.
Alice: Porter! You’re alive! And… oh my God, is this Tina?
Bette groans slightly as Alice barrels over, a mischievous grin plastered across her face. Behind her, Shane saunters in coolly, hands in her jacket pockets, and Dana lingers at the back, looking awkward but friendly.
Bette: (sighing) I told you to text me before you show up anywhere.
Alice: (ignoring her, sitting down uninvited) Hi, Tina! I’m Alice, the voice of reason in this mess of a friend group and Journalism major.
Tina laughs, clearly amused but slightly overwhelmed by Alice’s energy.
Tina: Nice to meet you, Alice.
Alice: (leaning closer to Tina, mock whispering) She’s trouble, you know. Smooth talker, total player.
Bette: (cutting her off) Alice.
Alice: (grinning) What? I’m just setting expectations.
Shane pulls up a chair, her laidback energy balancing out Alice’s chaotic vibe. She nods at Tina, her expression warm but casual.
Shane: Hey, I’m Shane.
Tina shakes her hand, charmed by Shane’s calm demeanor.
Tina: Nice to meet you, Shane.
Dana hesitantly steps forward, clearly shy but sweet. She gives Tina a small wave before sitting down next to Alice.
Dana: Hi, I’m Dana. Tennis player. Business major. And… um, sorry about Alice.
Alice: (offended) Excuse me! I’m a delight.
Bette rolls her eyes but glances at Tina to see how she’s handling this sudden ambush. To her surprise, Tina seems relaxed, laughing along with the group.
Tina: It’s okay. I like meeting Bette’s friends. You guys seem… fun.
Alice: (grinning) Oh, we’re a blast. You’ll love it here. So, how did Bette manage to trick you into a date?
Bette: (deadpan) Alice.
Tina: (laughing) Actually, she just asked me. No tricks, no games.
Alice raises an eyebrow, impressed.
Alice: Wow. Growth. Proud of you, Porter.
Shane smirks, and Dana chuckles softly. The group falls into an easy rhythm, with Alice leading the conversation, Shane throwing in witty one-liners, and Dana quietly adding thoughtful comments. Bette occasionally glances at Tina, relieved to see her fitting in so well.
As breakfast winds down, the group gets up to leave. Alice, Shane, and Dana head out first, leaving Bette and Tina alone again.
Tina: (smiling) Your friends are great. A little… intense, but great.

I loved how the scene played out, mostly because they were so honest with each other and actually talked things out rather than running away. Tina needs to make her own decisions and trust Bette rather than being influenced by friends. Bette needs to be honest with herself and knowing her past reputation should not prevent her from growing and loving respectfully. We know they made it to a certain point then things fell apart. I look forward to you filling in the years between when they met in college and how they ended up in divorce court. Great writing style. Thank you for sharing this story!
I really appreciate your thoughtful insight, It’s indeed a significant moment for Tina to trust her heart and for Bette to demonstrate her commitment to change. The journey from where they began to where they are now is rich with history and emotion, and it’s thrilling to delve into that narrative. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.
Honest and raw emotions. Great update!
There’s still so much to unfold, and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support
Loved the scene in the rain! They both have real, understandable emotions. Though I could kill Helena, lol. Please continue this story
The rain wasn’t just a backdrop it was a storm brewing between them, mirroring every unspoken fear, every desperate hope. They weren’t just standing in the downpour; they were drowning in their emotions, clinging to each other like lifelines. And Helena? She struck the match, but Bette and Tina were always going to be the wildfire. There’s so much more to unfold, and I promise, the intensity is far from over.
Oh geez, most definitely continue with this story. I like how skeptical Tina is of Bette from all the horror stories told to her about how Bette loves them then leaves them with no commitments. Please hurry with new chapters. Now that they are both soaked from the rain will they go to Tina’s room, Bette’s room or each to 5heir own rooms to change clothes and get dry.
The rain wasn’t just a setting it was a force, relentless and unforgiving, much like the emotions crashing between them. Bette, for so long, had been untouchable, slipping through hearts like sand, never staying long enough to leave a mark that mattered. But Tina? She was different. She wasn’t just another fleeting moment. And that terrified both of them.
Tina had every reason to hesitate. The stories of Bette’s past weren’t just whispers they were warnings. Bette was the storm people admired from a distance, never daring to step too close, because those who did never left unscathed. And yet, here they were, soaked and breathless, standing at the edge of something dangerous, something real. There’s still so much more to unravel and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support.
