Lost & Found in the Rain

But instead of saying that, he played the role he always did the good friend. The reliable one.

Henry: (softly) You wanna get out of here for a bit?

Tina hesitated, but then she nodded.

Outside the Classroom – Campus Pathway

The air was crisp, the scent of damp earth lingering from the earlier rain.

Henry walked beside Tina, hands in his pockets, stealing glances at her. She was still lost in thought, her gaze distant. He hated seeing her like this.

Henry: (casually) Alright, spill it. Who do I need to fight?

Tina let out a small laugh.

    Tina: You? Fight?

Henry: (dramatically) Excuse me, I’ll have you know I’ve been in at least three battles.

    Tina: Oh yeah?

Henry: One against my alarm clock, one against a vending machine that stole my dollar, and one against a particularly aggressive pigeon.

Tina laughed again, shaking her head.

Henry: See? That’s what I wanted. You’ve been sulking all week.

    Tina sighed, hugging herself.

    Tina: I don’t know, Henry. I just…. I hate feeling like this.

Henry stopped walking, turning to her.

    Henry: (seriously) Like what?

    She hesitated.

Tina: (quietly) Like I’m waiting for something that might never come.

Henry clenched his jaw, biting back his frustration. Of course, this was about Bette.

Henry: (softly, tilting his head playfully) Well, if she’s too stupid to see what she’s got right in front of her, then maybe she’s not worth waiting for.

    Tina smiled faintly.

    Tina: Thanks, Henry.

On impulse, she stepped forward and hugged him.

Henry’s breath hitched, his arms wrapping around her almost too tightly.

He closed his eyes for a second, savoring the moment, wishing just for once that she meant it the way he did.

But when Tina pulled away, her expression was light, casual. Just a friend thanking another friend.
    Henry forced a smile.

Henry: (grinning again) Alright, enough emotional moments. Let’s go find snacks before I get sentimental and start writing poetry.

Tina laughed, nudging him playfully as they continued walking.

Bette walking briskly across the campus to meet Tina, her jaw tight and her eyes blazing with anger. She’s wearing her usual confident facade, but the cracks are visible. It’s been a week of silence no texts, no calls, and Bette’s frustration has reached a boiling point. She spots Tina across the quad, talking to a guy and laughing. The guy leans in, and Tina gives him a hug. That’s all it takes for Bette to snap.

    1. I loved how the scene played out, mostly because they were so honest with each other and actually talked things out rather than running away. Tina needs to make her own decisions and trust Bette rather than being influenced by friends. Bette needs to be honest with herself and knowing her past reputation should not prevent her from growing and loving respectfully. We know they made it to a certain point then things fell apart. I look forward to you filling in the years between when they met in college and how they ended up in divorce court. Great writing style. Thank you for sharing this story!

      • I really appreciate your thoughtful insight, It’s indeed a significant moment for Tina to trust her heart and for Bette to demonstrate her commitment to change. The journey from where they began to where they are now is rich with history and emotion, and it’s thrilling to delve into that narrative. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.

      • The rain wasn’t just a backdrop it was a storm brewing between them, mirroring every unspoken fear, every desperate hope. They weren’t just standing in the downpour; they were drowning in their emotions, clinging to each other like lifelines. And Helena? She struck the match, but Bette and Tina were always going to be the wildfire. There’s so much more to unfold, and I promise, the intensity is far from over.

    2. Oh geez, most definitely continue with this story. I like how skeptical Tina is of Bette from all the horror stories told to her about how Bette loves them then leaves them with no commitments. Please hurry with new chapters. Now that they are both soaked from the rain will they go to Tina’s room, Bette’s room or each to 5heir own rooms to change clothes and get dry.

      • The rain wasn’t just a setting it was a force, relentless and unforgiving, much like the emotions crashing between them. Bette, for so long, had been untouchable, slipping through hearts like sand, never staying long enough to leave a mark that mattered. But Tina? She was different. She wasn’t just another fleeting moment. And that terrified both of them.

Tina had every reason to hesitate. The stories of Bette’s past weren’t just whispers they were warnings. Bette was the storm people admired from a distance, never daring to step too close, because those who did never left unscathed. And yet, here they were, soaked and breathless, standing at the edge of something dangerous, something real. There’s still so much more to unravel and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support.
