Lost & Found in the Rain
Lara: Tina, it’s your choice. Just make sure you’re protecting yourself.
Tina: (quietly) Thanks, guys. I’ll think about it.
Bette’s Dorm Room – Later That Day
Bette is sitting on her bed, flipping through her phone, debating whether to text Tina. She hesitates, her thumb hovering over the screen. Finally, she types a simple message: Hey, thinking about you.
She hits send and stares at the screen, waiting for a reply. A few moments later, still no response from Tina.
A flicker of doubt crosses her face. She knows her past mistakes are catching up to her, and she can only hope Tina will give her the chance to prove she’s changed.
Tina’s Dorm Room – Afternoon
Tina sat cross-legged on the floor, brush in hand, painting in slow, deliberate strokes.
The canvas was abstract, a blend of dark blues and soft pinks, but she wasn’t really focused on the art. Her mind kept circling back to Bette.
She had almost texted her last night. Had typed out: I miss you.
Then she deleted it.
She wasn’t ready.
Helena’s words still echoed in her head. She burns hot, but she burns out fast.
Tina had heard the stories. About how Bette could be magnetic one moment, distant the next. About the trail of women who had thought they were special until they weren’t.
And yet…
The way Bette had looked at her. The way she had held her in that tiny, fleeting moment outside the cafe.
Tina sighed, setting down her brush.
Bette’s Dorm Room – Late Night
Bette Porter wasn’t used to waiting.
She sat on her chair, phone resting on the coffee table, the screen mocking her with its emptiness. No missed calls. No messages. Nothing.
It had been a full week since their breakfast date. A week since Tina’s soft “I’d like that.” But instead of follow-ups and late-night texts, there was silence.
Bette exhaled sharply, running a hand through her hair.
She had sent one text two days ago. Hey, just thinking about you. Hope your project’s going well. It had remained unread.
At first, she told herself to be patient. Maybe Tina was just busy. Maybe she didn’t check her phone much. But as each day passed, doubt crept in like a slow-moving storm.

I loved how the scene played out, mostly because they were so honest with each other and actually talked things out rather than running away. Tina needs to make her own decisions and trust Bette rather than being influenced by friends. Bette needs to be honest with herself and knowing her past reputation should not prevent her from growing and loving respectfully. We know they made it to a certain point then things fell apart. I look forward to you filling in the years between when they met in college and how they ended up in divorce court. Great writing style. Thank you for sharing this story!
I really appreciate your thoughtful insight, It’s indeed a significant moment for Tina to trust her heart and for Bette to demonstrate her commitment to change. The journey from where they began to where they are now is rich with history and emotion, and it’s thrilling to delve into that narrative. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.
Honest and raw emotions. Great update!
There’s still so much to unfold, and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support
Loved the scene in the rain! They both have real, understandable emotions. Though I could kill Helena, lol. Please continue this story
The rain wasn’t just a backdrop it was a storm brewing between them, mirroring every unspoken fear, every desperate hope. They weren’t just standing in the downpour; they were drowning in their emotions, clinging to each other like lifelines. And Helena? She struck the match, but Bette and Tina were always going to be the wildfire. There’s so much more to unfold, and I promise, the intensity is far from over.
Oh geez, most definitely continue with this story. I like how skeptical Tina is of Bette from all the horror stories told to her about how Bette loves them then leaves them with no commitments. Please hurry with new chapters. Now that they are both soaked from the rain will they go to Tina’s room, Bette’s room or each to 5heir own rooms to change clothes and get dry.
The rain wasn’t just a setting it was a force, relentless and unforgiving, much like the emotions crashing between them. Bette, for so long, had been untouchable, slipping through hearts like sand, never staying long enough to leave a mark that mattered. But Tina? She was different. She wasn’t just another fleeting moment. And that terrified both of them.
Tina had every reason to hesitate. The stories of Bette’s past weren’t just whispers they were warnings. Bette was the storm people admired from a distance, never daring to step too close, because those who did never left unscathed. And yet, here they were, soaked and breathless, standing at the edge of something dangerous, something real. There’s still so much more to unravel and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support.
