Love in Control – Chapter II – Savannah (Part 2)

“Wooh! That was great! That was great, right Bette?” she exulted, hopping and skipping towards her friends.

Bette and Aerin clapped, hooted, and hollered enthusiastically as they turned simultaneously towards her.

“Why didn’t I have a teacher like you when I was at Princeton?” Aerin asked in between whistles. “I swear I would have picked up Art as an elective if there’d been someone like you.”

“Yes, that was great. You were great!” Bette added as she joined Aerin whistles of praise. “I’ve already gotten inquiries from people about whether or not you could be invited to address the biggest of big wigs at the next annual Davos conference, maybe hold a talk about the role of art or something along those lines.”

“Yeah? We can think about that later… for now, I just want to enjoy this. That felt really good! To see those faces light up when they connected to what I was trying to tell them – priceless!” Rian exclaimed again. She jumped into the waiting arms of her friends. They hopped up and down like kids, whooping it up.

Finally, they settled down as Rian called out, “Hang on! Hang on! I gotta get out of these heels, girls. They’re killing me!”

Aerin stopped immediately and gripped Rian by her waist. “Oh! Of course! Sorry, Rian …”

Rian slid her a bemused glance as she bent a knee and reached back to pull one shoe out. “Barbie, why are you here by the way? Not that I’m ungrateful for the support, but shouldn’t you be with Alyssa? The girlfriend, right?”

“How did her lecture go anyway? I didn’t catch any part of it because I was up in the dean’s office writing out a few thoughts. I’d lost track of time and they came to fetch me when I was up.”

Aerin chuckled as she released Rian after she saw that Rian had removed the shoe. She stepped back as Bette held onto Rian’s hand to support her while Rian slipped the other shoe off. “She wasn’t all that happy with her lecture so she went off with some of her college friends to hang out by the river. I said I wanted to stay to catch your lecture, so we agreed to meet up later.”

    1. So pleased to read your story!

I don’t care that it isn’t a traditional Bette and Tina story line, but i wouldn’t mind if you give them more time in it ;-)

That was such a heart warming talk between Jade and Rian’s mom.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. It was a little early for my Pinot Noir, but well worth it, as it perfectly paired with your story. In fact, all of your stories are a full-spectrum sensory experience for me. Like a good glass of wine, I get lost in the color, bathe in the aroma, and relish the taste and texture of your scenes. Your give your protagonist characters a rich personality that I can’t help but instantly root for. While Bette and Tina initially drew me this this site and your stories, I really enjoy your other characters just as much.

Aerin virtually stole the words out of my mouth. If I had a professor like Rian during my undergraduate years, perhaps I would have gotten better than a C+ in my Art History class. I may have even been persuaded to change majors with such impassioned lectures.

As I was reading the dialogue between Jade and Rian’s mom, I was thinking that’s the type of mom I wish we had and we all would become. Well done.

    3. I normally am only interested in Bette and Tina stories, but not with this one im loving all your characters , and story lines, i can”t wait to read more. Thank you

    4. Genuine art has the power to strengthen the spirit of the people.
I loved Rian lecture, I applaud the end of the lecture.
And please do not let Tina looks at this Kaci, from what I read,
      I realized, it will happen.
      The complete constellation.
