Love in Control – Chapter II – Savannah (Part 2)

It had all happened so fast, and Tina was still out of reach. Her heart leapt to her throat when she saw her little boy being jostled by the bigger kids who were all racing each other up the ropes.
TJ!!! She swallowed her shout so as not to distract her son who was clearly just trying to hang onto the rope as the other kids crowded onto the rope he was hanging onto. Hang on, baby! Mommy’s coming!
Tina wasn’t sure how, exactly, the next sequence of events happened –maybe TJ was born under a lucky star, maybe they had done enough good in their lives that positive karma came their way when their little boy needed it – whatever it was happened so quickly, so that at the end of it, for whatever reason, TJ had been spared what would have been a surefire head injury.
TJ had been barely hanging on when yet another kid jostled him. This caused one hand to loosen its grip; and then the other. TJ was now hanging upside down, and only his crossed legs on the rope were keeping him from crashing to the ground.
From seemingly out of nowhere, a woman rushed to TJ just as Tina feared his ankles were about to lose their grip on the rope. The woman had somehow wrapped her arms around the little boy at the moment he was about to fall! When she’d secured her hold on him, she’d righted him up – his head had never been in danger of hitting the ground because she’d cradled his head with one hand when she’d rushed to grab hold of him.
“TJ!!” Tina shouted in a voice full of fright. “TJ!” Angie’s younger, shriller voice joined her mom’s, also fearful for her brother and frightened.
The woman set the surprised boy carefully on the ground, and bent on a knee to look at him at close to his eye level, still holding onto his hands, talking softly, soothingly to him. His eyes had been wide open and looked confused.
Tina rushed up to them and swept TJ up to her chest, and embraced him tightly. “Baby, are you okay? Are you okay?” She rained kisses on his cheeks and forehead.

So pleased to read your story!
I don’t care that it isn’t a traditional Bette and Tina story line, but i wouldn’t mind if you give them more time in it ;-)
That was such a heart warming talk between Jade and Rian’s mom.
Thanks for the update!
Just Bette and Tina please!!!
It was a little early for my Pinot Noir, but well worth it, as it perfectly paired with your story. In fact, all of your stories are a full-spectrum sensory experience for me. Like a good glass of wine, I get lost in the color, bathe in the aroma, and relish the taste and texture of your scenes. Your give your protagonist characters a rich personality that I can’t help but instantly root for. While Bette and Tina initially drew me this this site and your stories, I really enjoy your other characters just as much.
Aerin virtually stole the words out of my mouth. If I had a professor like Rian during my undergraduate years, perhaps I would have gotten better than a C+ in my Art History class. I may have even been persuaded to change majors with such impassioned lectures.
As I was reading the dialogue between Jade and Rian’s mom, I was thinking that’s the type of mom I wish we had and we all would become. Well done.
Enjoyed it. Thought TJ was headed for a bad fall. Who’s this Kaci? No drama for Bette and Tina please. Thanks
Sky loved the chapter. Love to read more of Bette and Tina but your on a good path.
I normally am only interested in Bette and Tina stories, but not with this one im loving all your characters , and story lines, i can”t wait to read more. Thank you
Thanks for all your comments don70! Am glad you and others enjoy reading about these characters and am happy you find the different storylines they inhabit interesting. Please do continue to let me know your thoughts as this story progresses – based on actual places and people – as we explore what it means to love, and be stripped bare even if fully-clothed, before another.
Genuine art has the power to strengthen the spirit of the people.
I loved Rian lecture, I applaud the end of the lecture.
And please do not let Tina looks at this Kaci, from what I read,
I realized, it will happen.
The complete constellation.
