MET Obsession
Chapter 4: The Club.
David took another sip of his Gimlet and glanced at Tina’s empty wine glass which had contained the house red wine. “Well that won’t do.” he thought. Their server happened to be dropping off a beer at a nearby table and David tactfully gestured for refills of their drinks. After six months of dating, he knew Tina would appreciate the gesture for what it was. Two thirsty people who needed a refill. He enjoyed being with a woman who wasn’t offended if he held a door open for her. He didn’t feel comfortable going dutch on a date. He relished having the financial resources to pick up the tab at expensive restaurants without giving it a second thought. Occasionally, Tina would insist on paying for both of them and he had respect for that sense of fair play.
Tina had been born and bred in North Carolina and retained many of those values which her people pridefully called Southern Charm. The charm remained ingrained but Tina had shed her Southern accent during her college years. So much so, that David had been surprised to discover her Southern roots. He had first detected a hint of twang in her voice when she gushed excitedly about a new project at work. He found those momentary regional slip ups surprisingly charming.
From their first meeting at the museum, he had been impressed by her open intelligence and the disarming ability she possessed to make instant connections with complete strangers. He suspected these qualities went a long way in explaining her rapid rise at Arc Film the production company that employed her. He was mightily impressed that a 27 year old girl was in charge of project development at such a well known studio.
Watching her intermittently, as she listened to the band, David considered that he wasn’t getting any younger. He didn’t look middle aged but at almost forty he felt his male biological clock ticking loudly and was mentally preparing himself to settle down. He wanted children and Tina had confided in him that being a mother was one of her life goals.
“We’re a good match.” He thought.
Catching David looking at her with a wide grin on his face, Tina wondered what had brought on this contented expression. When she smiled back at him, he slid his hand over her shoulder, leaned in and kissed her just below her earlobe on the side of the neck.

Kat, welcome aboard. Nice to see you spreading your writing wings here. Very sweet short story. I’m with Bette, a public restroom is not the ideal place for a first kiss, but what a kiss it was. I hope you write more stories and share them with us. Keep on writing, you have a talent.
p.s., glad you took the advice (yes, that was me).
Thanks Cella. I appreciate the advice and was pleasantly surprised to find your response here. I am exploring all of the tips you listed elsewhere.
I just started the writing thing and am looking forward to creating more tales.
Hi! Story looking interesting.
I understand it’s a single part tale, but maybe you’ll want to continue?
Hi Zhenya,
I will definitely consider expanding the story. To be honest, I have not plotted out the rest of the story. I will need to put on my thinking cap before I post additional chapters of this story.
Hi Kat, welcome aboard!
It was a short story but very well written and i hope for more.
Sincerly bibi28
Thanks Bibi28.
Hi, Welcome Aboard,
I think this has the makings of a longer story.
Enjoyed reading it and your characters are well written.
Thank you, hope to read more.

Thank you SassyGran. I’m glad you found the characters and story entertaining.
Hello Kat and Welcometo the site. Enjoyed your story, certainly hope you expand this story, please keep Tina from bolting from Bette and Kit. She needs to stay and talk to them maybe in Kit’s dressing room or someplace other than the bathroom. Very interesting story. Please continue. Thanks for posting.
I agree, these girls need to get the heck out of that restroom.
There is the David setup an interview factor. So we should learn more about Kits past and her estrangement from her father. Many possibilities need to be explored and plotted for TiBette too before the next installment.
Thank you letting me know you enjoyed the story.
Great story and I want to read more. Maybe Bette invites Tina to her apartment for a stir fry dinner??
Hmm…I think you may have tapped into something. LOL.
Great and PLEEEEEZE do not let Candace anywhere near the museum!!!!!
This was a refreshing one off, haven’t seen this in a long while so good job!
Thank you CestMoi.
