    “Does Bette hold it against you ?”

    “No – she’s amazing – she does resent and feel a lot of bitterness against Alice”

    “Not me ?”

    “Alice is different for her because of how far back they go “ Tina sighed “I don’t think she will ever forgive Alice – maybe its how she copes – maybe she directs her hurt towards just one person “

    “Tina- all you can do is love Bette and give her the life that she could have had – yes she missed four years of Angie’s life but she’s going to have the rest of her life being there for both of you “

    “I said roughly the same to her earlier – she is great with Angie “

    “Its only been how long Tina ?”

    Tina thought about it “ Less than two months “

    “Exactly – give yourselves some breathing space – you are not going to undo five years apart in two months. Give yourself credit for what the two of you have achieved so far – how do you feel ? – take Angie away from this – how are you feeling about being with Bette again ”

    Tina lent back and rubbed her brow

    “I’m sleeping so much better and I know its because of how right it feels to have her beside me. Sex is off the radar its so good. She completes me Shane. I love waking up and seeing her next to me – I love it when she comes home and Angie races to her and she picks her up and hugs and kisses her – then she comes over and kisses me and she always tells me how much she loves me. There are so many things that are special – she’s just got a plasma screen TV, DVD and cable in our bedroom – she says to me that one station is having a disaster movie season so lets watch Twister in bed later. I know its because she used to say that she could imagine me in the Helen Hunt role – she’s got a real weakness for that film. The history that we have means that there is so much that neither of us have to explain. She’s not the same Bette – she’s so much more – she’s vulnerable and she lets me take control. We are gong to last because she’s letting me be in charge – fuck Shane I really am going to spend the rest of my life with her “
