Bette beamed at Tina and took the ring she was going to put on her wife’s finger
“I didn’t think it was possible to love a woman more than I loved you in LA – well like so many things I have been proved wrong about -I was wrong about that. I love the New York Tina more than ever – you are not just my soon to be wife – you are the key to my soul and my best friend and the mother of the most perfect little girl” Bette looked round at Angie who was standing beside Shane and James and grinning. “You changed my life when I met you in LA – and you have done it again. I vow my life to you Tina. I will care for you when you are sick and hungover – I will love you at your best and at your worst and whatever life has in store for us – we will face it together. Here’s to the start of the rest of our lives together”
She slipped the ring on Tina’s finger and beamed
“By the power granted to me by the state of New York I pronounce you wife and wife – you can kiss the brides “
Bette looked at Angie “Am I allowed?” she asked
“Yes “
“Thank you “
Bette took Tina’s hands – pulled her into an embrace and then softly kissed her on the lips. The kiss went on for several seconds until Tina eased away and rubbed a tear from her eyes
“I love you “
“I love you “
Tina looked at Angie “Happy now that we are married?”
“Yeah “Angie ran forward and Bette picked her up and swung her round “So glad you approve “
When Bette put Angie down she ran to Tina who hugged her. It was the cue for everyone to crowd round the newly-weds to congratulate them. After a few minutes Bette clapped her hands
“Thank you everyone – if everyone can hang on while James takes some wedding pictures – then it’s back to the gate where a couple of limos will take us for our wedding party “
The Plaza Hotel was one of the most iconic buildings near to Central Park and Bette had picked it on Peggy’s recommendation – and the older woman had pulled strings to get them a private reception. Walking in Bette looked down at her daughter
“Like it ?”
“It’s like something from the TV “Angie said looking at the massive chandeliers and wide, sweeping staircases
“Still think Sheba should have been here?” Bette asked
“They might have mice “Angie said hopefully
“They better not “Peggy said “Not at these prices “
Angie looked at Peggy “Do you have a cat?”
“No darling “
“We are getting one tomorrow “
“What a quaint wedding present “
“It’s for me – it’s my birthday tomorrow “
“Angie “Tina overheard “We have a very strict agreement that on our wedding day there will be no discussions about someone’s birthday and the second cat in the family”
“But”
“No buts “Tina said “and not cat talk “
Peggy smiled at Tina “She is certainly lively “
“You have no idea just how smart she is and how she likes to create chaos at the most unfortunate of times – like this morning “
“Yes – my daughter is good at that”
“Does your daughter know where you are today ?”
“Oh I told her darling I told her what a lovely couple you are and how much you love Bette and how well Bette treats you – don’t think she was amused “
“That was naughty Peggy “
“She deserved it “
“And has she adapted to London ?”
“More like London adapting to her – actually she does seem to have settled down – she hasn’t got into trouble in at least a month “
“Or maybe you don’t know “
“Oh I assure you darling Tina – I know what she gets up to – I have a spy in her camp”
Tina smiled “You would have been a challenging mother in law Peggy”
“I would have loved that but your destiny was Bette “
“Yes – I do hope Helena settles down – she does have some really good qualities “
“Nice boobs I have been told “Peggy replied dryly “Thank you for being kind about her – it’s more than she deserves. I hope she sees how fortunate she is before it’s too late “

Thank you for finishing this part of the story. Seems as if the story could handle a sequel if you’re so inclined. I was reading “Running on Sunshine” and it is quite excellent. Maybe write more for that story?

It has taken me several days to read this book and its many chapters. I want to say that I love your Bette and Tina. I am thrilled to read a story in which these two women mature in their relationship and in their lives. I love how you have them teach each other how to communicate and how essential it is for their relationship. I am also impressed on how you present the aspect that the group was far to involved with each other’s lives to be healthy. Alice simply had no boundaries. I think Shane did and maybe even Dana did. Jenny was just crazy and Alice took no responsibility for her own actions and decisions. The biggest surprise was Kit. I guess that is what happens when you allow addictions to control your life.
This was a wonderful story and well written. I have really enjoyed it from front to back. I believe that Tina still has a bit more maturing to do but in time with Bette’s help she will get there. New York is truly a wonderful place for this family. Thank You for sharing this….I look forward to reading your other writings in the near future.
