"Tina." The blonde replied, moving a seat closer as well and taking the offered hand.
The handshake was warm and soft and lingered just enough to let them understand that something unusual was happening.
They remained there talking for while at the empty gate, discussing families, hometowns, travel plans, jobs. They found that they had a few things in common, and kept a steady stream of animated conversation as they continued to wait for their respective flights.
And when the moment arrived, as they invariably did, for a brief lull in the conversation, the music from the speakers came to the fore again.
The familiar song made Tina smile and then frown, "Oh God.. Prom night," she mused, "The best song in the world ruined by a date with two left feet."
"Your favourite song?" Bette enquired softly.
"Yeah..all time favourite actually." Tina smiled forlornly turning to the warm brown eyes.
Bette looked at Tina’s pensive gaze and an idea flashed through her brain. It was a bargain but one she was prepared to take just to make sure that she was correct about the beautiful blonde she had just met.
"Dance with me," Bette suggested standing up with a smile.
    Tina looked up, "What?"
For a split second Bette doubted herself. She could not be wrong!
    No.
She was certain, she was right.
Her fears were quickly alleviated when Tina grinned and asked further. "Here?"
"What better place? " Bette answered relieved, trying desperately to not show her momentary discomfort. She extended her hand once again to beckon the blonde from her seat, "I’m no ballroom dancer, but I’m quite sure I do not have two left feet…"
Tina laughed but took the hand allowing herself to be pulled out of her chair. "In other circumstances.. I might think you were flirting with me."
"I am, I want to.." Bette’s inner voice screamed at her, but instead she heard herself say almost aloof. "Trust me when I say you’d know….I just cannot permit this bad memory to carry on spoiling your favourite song."
The brunette clasped the smaller pale hand in hers and slid her free arm around Tina’s waist, drawing her closer as they began to move in time with the music.

    1. Damn…..kins you come out of nowhere and just rock my world like this, only to leave for god knows how long. I don’t care just as long as you keep coming back. Now that is a characteristic of a player LOL ;@)

    2. I forgot my offering of the number 14. Thanks for including me. 14 is special to me because in a few short days my partner and I will celebrate 25 years together on September 14th. How appropriate that you would choose now to include my number. I know I have gushed over your writing before. I continue to adore you. T

    3. Simply FANTASTIC Kins, just beautifully, wonderfully and lovingly fantastic. Thanks for popping back in and bringing wonderful stories. Can hardly wait for the multi-chapter story you will bring us. Thanks again.

    4. Ditto to everything above, well, maybe not the marry me part since its not too appropriate at this time. But, damn girl, you write great stories. I loved the Savannah slip in there… still one of my favorite stories. Thanks for the update.

    5. Great kins – I came to your stories late but delighted I found you! A true storyteller with the ability in your words to make me laugh and make me cry – thank you.

Do you think you might write some more Savannah some time?!?
