    “No,” Agent Johnson replied reluctantly.

“Then this interview is over,” Bette stood up.

“You can’t just walk away. We tell you when the interview is over,” Agent Johnson jumped up defensively.

“Kevin, “Agent McKinnon said softly, as she stood up as well. “Ms. Porter is right. We don’t have any evidence, just a call from an anonymous source.”

Agent Johnson sighed but said nothing.

“This is an ongoing investigation, Ms. Porter. We might have more questions for you in the future,” Agent McKinnon addressed Bette. “You are free to go, for now. Please don’t leave town.”

“What the hell, Sam?” Agent Johnson asked angrily as soon as the door behind Bette closed. “You went soft on her because she plays for your team.”

“I didn’t go soft on because we are both lesbians,” Agent McKinnon replied without taking offense. “Does she look like a drug trafficker to you? She answered all the questions and didn’t even flinched when we asked her some far-fetched questions.”

“She did get pretty defensive in the end,” agent Johnson commented.

“Wouldn’t you? We pretty much accused her of being a criminal mastermind with not one shred of evidence and she stayed classy and composed the whole time.”

“We shouldn’t have let her go so fast,” Agent Johnson persisted, clearly annoyed. “We need to verify her Geneva story. It’s all can be just a clever alibi. The FBI has stationed special agents and other personnel overseas for more than seven decades. We can always check with one of the legats in Geneva. I know a few attaches myself.”

“Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Bette Porter is right. We don’t have any concrete evidence against her. It is all circumstantial.”

“We should’ve kept her longer,” Agent Johnson replied stubbornly.

“No worries. We know where she lives and where she works.” Agent McKinnon grabbed the paperwork from the table and followed after Bette.

Tina was pacing in front of the bench nervously while Alice was whistling some Broadway song that was so out of tune that Tina couldn’t place it. “Al, stop. You are driving me crazy.”

“T, you have to relax,” Alice didn’t feel offended. “Bette is going to be fine. We rehearsed all evening yesterday. She’s going to ace it.”

    2. Thanks for the update…. nice chapter…. so here we go with Alice and a few questions. If we just knew what the other team knew and what they were guessing at, we might come up with a strategy to get them off the trail. I think the FBI is going to laugh about the possibility of time travel. Helena will then look like a fool and maybe life will proceed in a normal fashion…

I really want to see where this ends up…. write and publish as soon as you can.
