“So, Tasha is going to be proposing to Alice.” Bette says as I watch her lean against her patio doors with her drink.

“I think Alice really loves Tasha.” I smile.

“I also believe, Alice has been waiting for this since, forever.”

“I don’t think she is gonna see this one coming.”

“It will for sure be a surprise to her.”

“I give Tasha a medal for keeping this from Alice.” Bette says to me.

“Yeah, we all know how hard that is.”

We fill with silence.

“Danielle got a job offer in San Diego.” I blurt out.

“A job offer?”

“Yes. They love her work with hair and makeup so much, they offered her a job, will her own business with Sunblock Studios.”

“Is this why you guys are fighting?”

“When she first came to me with the idea, it was as if she wanted me to go with her. But of course, my life is in LA and I could not take the kids with me. So I told her that I couldn’t and I told her that I don’t want her saying no to this offer, I wanted her to think.” I sigh. “We agreed that this time here, would help her decide if she wanted to stay with me or take the offer. She promised to not take any business calls but she lied.” I pause again before continuing. “When we took that break by the bridge that crossed the waterfall, we spoke. I told her if it matters to her so much then she should take it. I told her I never meant to make it sound like I wanted her to leave but she got upset. So basically, I probably fucked everything up.”

“Have you tried talking to her since you guys have been back?”

“She wanted sometime to herself, so I decided to come hang with the kids, so now I’m here.”

“Maybe you should go talk to her, T.”

“I don’t know, what to say.”

“Tell her how you truly feel.”

“I feel like it’s too late.”

“It’s never too late, Tina.”

I look down at my feet before taking my last sip of drink and standing to my feet.

“I’ll see you at dinner.” I say.
