“Sweetie, like your Mama B said. It is just to sleep,the rest of your time will be spent outside doing fun things!” Tina smiles.

“Fine.” Angie nods.
“Now you both get unpacked, Angie please help your brother and then we will be grabbing a bite to eat and then some beach time.” Tina says with a smile.

We leave the room shutting the door behind us.

“I can’t believe we will be sleeping a bedroom away.” I blurt out.

I hear a soft chuckle escape her mouth.

“Are we teenagers now?” She says as we walk down the hall.

“What type of teenagers shall we be?” I ask her while laughing.

“What do you think?” Tina asks me.

“Shall we be good or bad?”

“Good teenagers? I don’t think they exist. Not in this world. And especially not ours.” Tina says laughing.

“We have to stop with this talk, you know I can’t handle it knowing I can’t be with you, T.” I realize my words and I quickly try to change them but I get interrupted as soon as my mouth opens.

“Bette, don’t try to cover it up. I know you meant what you just said.” She says stopping me from walking further away from her. “But great way to make things more awkward.” She laughs.

“Please, let’s just forget this?” I beg. “We aren’t together anymore and I have to learn to not say those things anymore. Sometimes they just slip out and honestly I don’t mean them, Tina.” I feel the words that escape my mouth cutting my throat like a knife.

I see her facial expression change from a smile to serious and she nods.

“I’ll catch you later. I should get everything on packed.” She says walking away.

“Of course.” I say before she disappears behind her door.

I stand in the same spot for a few moments realizing how harsh I may have sounded. I wonder if the words that cut like a knife to my throat, cut her like that.
I slowly turn and walk towards my door.
