The first piece immediately caught Bette’s attention and Tina could tell she was pulled into a world where her brain was piecing together a story of the woman, a reason for her achievement, a story behind the final product.
Bette spent longer looking at the child, and Tina thought Bette looked deeply contemplative, thoughtful. Her eyes had looked up and searched for Tina’s across the room, and they locked intently. Were those tears in her eyes? Tina took a step forward, but Bette shook her head slowly, a tender smile on her lips.
The third sculpture was the largest of the three, the size of a toddler. There was nothing childlike about the design, however. It appeared to be a couple, but the gender of each figure unclear, muted. What was clear was the symbiotic nature of their embrace, where one body ended the other begin, the two appearing to move in unison, their embrace passionate and compelling.
Elena had used different techniques on the metal here and it shimmered in one place whereas other parts were darker as if in shadow. It gave the illusion of movement, that the figures were in motion, towards something unseen if not unwelcome.
Bette was incredibly moved by the three pieces, Tina could tell by the wave of expressions on her face, from surprise to astonishment to sincere appreciation at the pieces in front of her.
She walked slowly over to Bette, taking one hand softly in both of hers and leaning her head on her shoulder. Bette didn’t speak for some time but when she did, her voice was low, emotional and tears filled her eyes.
Shane and Carmen followed slowly, waiting. Bette’s eyes rose to meet her neighbors.
“Shane…” she whispered. Shane nodded, waiting, knowing Bette knew that she was attentive.
“Can you get her? Can you bring Elena here… please?”
“Now?”
“Yes, now. Thank you.”
Shane glanced at Tina, and then left the studio, Carmen at her side, leaving the couple alone for the moment.
Bette turned to face Tina and spoke quietly. She cleared her throat.
“Tee, I want to show this work… it is unlike anything I have ever seen. I don’t care about Jodie anymore, no… really I don’t. She can fuck off. This work is exquisite. We need this in our studio, it needs to be seen.”

OK, OKay, back to the chptr….WhooHooo it’s finally time for the Opening but even more so the showdown with Eric in Chicago!!!! Can’t wait to see how Tibette will handle his butt!! Afterall, Tina promised Bette she would come up with a plan

Thank you for Bette’s apology! Really heartfelt. Both learned much about an open communication and still have a few miles to go. Let’s see what idea Tina has for Eric and the situation at the studio. And how Bette will react to it.

Yes, indeed. In my mind there are so many steamy, loving scenes for bathtubs. In reality….not so many. More like flooding of the bathroom, slipping in the tub etc. ;-p
I love the way Bette and Tina describe the old way of settling disagreements to their new way settling disagreements. I particularly like that they describe themselves as “overgrown toddler” and a “childish tantrums”. And the the fact that both were to bent, bound and determined to punish the other without taking into consideration of the facts. And with all that drama, they ended up working longer hours so they didn’t have to be with each other. It’s no wonder they ended up splitting up and seeking comfort and attention somewhere else.
This is how you repair marriages and damaged relationships. You stop demanding. You stop yelling. You stop accusing and condemning. You start to listen and really hear what is being said. You talk in advance of a decision. You share your hopes, dreams, and fears. You praise and compliment your partner. You apologize and take responsibility for your mistakes and misdeeds. You look for compromise and win-win solutions where everyone benefits. You realize that shit happens and do the best you can with the situation. And sometime that shit is no ones fault and no one needs to be blamed or punished for. Life is too short to take significant portions of your life in a disagreement.
I love the art work. I love that Tina knows Bette so well that she knows what her facial expression mean when she is looking at art. She sees her emotions. That is love…..
