    “You have Baby” Tina said softly, moving in closer so she could reach out and caress Bette’s soft cheek. Bette kissed her palm and brought their joined hands down to her lap. Maybe she’s hurt because of Jodie cheating on her…

    “I have. But you kept this from me, Tee. This…project. You made one decision and then another and another to bring someone back into our lives that has the potential to hurt. To hurt us. US, Tina. To get between us and cause harm. You made those decisions without consulting me and you…it sounds like you brought our friends in to help you…”

    “I never lied to you Bette” Tina said curtly, surprised by the emotion in Bette’s words. Surprised that her words stung. She drew back a little, moving her legs away and drank again from the wine glass.

    “No. No you did not lie to me, but you omitted. And that is the same thing. We have to lean on each other, we have to talk”, she reached for Tina, but Tina stayed in her spot. “Don’t you see Baby? We must actively do everything we can to avoid going back to where we were. And it…going back…terrifies me. I can not lose you. I would never survive it again. We must take steps to protect us, always”.

    “I did this for you Bette…because she hurt you. I did this because of the art show, she came after you! I did this to get back at her for you!” Tina said leaning back a little farther, pulling her arms away and sitting back. Bette’s words upset her, she felt defensive and bewildered. Bette’s words stung, could they be true?

    “No, Baby. You didn’t do this for me. I have you. That is all I need. Everyone else can fuck off. Yes, Jodie hurt me, but you healed that wound. You healed that by loving me through it. I see now that you still don’t trust me to give me all of you and let the world go by. You don’t trust me enough to handle the hard stuff together, the issues that hurt us. You are holding yourself back. I understand that, I broke that trust. So I will work harder, but you have to work harder too Tina. Harder for us. We have to be in this together”.

      I am so proud that they are talking about their feelings and how Bette expressed her hurt to Tina. She was so right that they have to share and trust each other so that nobody can hurt them and try to come in between them.

    3. Fantastic !!! and yeah that’s true, I found season 6 a little botched, with more questions than answers and that’s why I’m infuriated at the thought of the new show, we’ll never get the answers !

      • Sorry to hear you have had a rough time of late, hopefully you are on the other side of what ever is going on! Thank you for your kind words (again) and for loving this story. I agree that Bette was always more tender, and open about her feelings and Tina was more reserved on the show. I am hoping to show that Tina still needs some work in this area, but that she is finally trying. I cherish their relationship too and hope we can all experience something close to this in our own lives…..
        Look for the next chapter Friday, assuming I can get my work done this week. It is written but I proofread obsessively and often change the story on the final read through….
