“Bette?” she called out quietly almost hesitating in her request, as the brunette had already slid the shower partition closed, “I don’t think…… do you think you could… come in and help me?"
Those were the words that Bette had hoped for. She closed her eyes in a silent thank you. She had wanted to offer her help but had decided at the last minute to give the injured woman some time to herself. It was up to Tina to decide whether or not she needed it.
The accountant had clearly been shocked at discovering her appearance in the bathroom mirror and her injuries did spell loud and clear the ferocity of the attack she had suffered.
Bette quickly and quietly undressed, removing her light linen trousers, shirt and undergarments and left them on the floor before sliding the shower door and stepping inside behind Tina.
In two small steps, Bette had reached her. Placing her hands on the blonde’s shoulder she pressed her body lightly against the smaller woman’s back in a silent signal of her presence and physical support. Tina automatically leaned back, registering the soft contours of Bette’s body against hers. She looked so fragile that Bette almost feared that the strength of the shower jet would be too much for her bruised body to sustain.
"Ok… You ready?" Bette asked softly reaching in front of Tina to check the temperature of the water. "Is it warm enough for you?"
Tina nodded and let herself be manoeuvred under the warm spray. As soon as the water hit her, in long warm therapeutic flows, her body relaxed a little. Her shoulders dropped and with it her body sagged lower, freed from the bracing demeanour she had adopted almost by default to keep at bay any surprise jolts of pain.
Her head fell forward only to lift back up again, rolling slowly under the spray of warm water to wet her hair completely and allow the water to wash away the salty trail her tears had left on her face. The feel of the warm water was simply amazing, instantly soothing her aching body.
She sighed contently and then turned around to face Bette and without saying a word wrapped her arms, as best she could, around the strong woman’s waist, resting her head on her chest.

So 27 was the antipenultimate, huh? Still, wish there were many more….
This chapter is really well written, could feel the intensity and nervousness of it all. Especially the interaction between those two, and the reliving of the nightmare. Only one more chapter…boo
As Jackiet said, “only 1 more chapter, BOO,” I agree totally. Felt the pain and anguish both of them were feeling during that shower. Really hate to see this story end, maybe you can give us more on their budding relationship and see if Bette goes to US with Tina if she decides to leave earlier than she had planned or even if she decides to live in Africa with Bette. Give us more about their relationship and budding love. Just reaching because I hate to see it end. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful story.

Thanks for the chapter. Glad that Tina is really going to recover and Bette is making sure that she knows that even with the bruises and scars-that she is still beautiful, sexy and wanted.
I’m so glad Tina has Bette there so support her through her healing process. It isn’t easy for either of them. I could feel the anguish Bette was feeling as she explained to Tina what happened to her. Even though she hasn’t used the word yet I think it’s apparent that she feels a deep love for Tina.
I’m so going to be sad when this ends but so wonderful writing. Thank you for this story.

Kins!… you just made me do some happy dance … :D LOL… somehow knowing that this is NOT the last chapter is so exciting, THOUGH after that when realized that means only one more chapter to go makes me kinda in blue :-( Anyway… this chapter is so beautifully painful … or painfully beautiful eh?? .. :-p the way you play with words always amazed me! even simple scene as showering (pure showering! ;-p) also become some great scene in your hand. Amazing! … ^_^ I do hope the next chapter will be covering the future for them too.. if not, well.. maybe you can do that in the prologue?! :-p LOL.. with all due respect Kins, it’s your call as it’s your privilege as the writer! ;-) I’ll stick around for any update for you for sure. BTW one year older not always wiser as wise person with young heart is not an easy one to find! ;-)
Hi Kins40, Thank you for creating another wonderful and intense chapter. Every moment was fleshed out to perfection as Bette and Tina struggled with the reality of this attack and aftermath. Wonderful follow up Kins – sorry I’m so late in catching up to this one. Are you _sure_ this isn’t the antepenultimate chapter (hahaha)??? I want to 2nd Tibetter24 – It feels like there might be a wee bit more before their/your journey comes to a close. Not that I want everything wrapped up in a neat little package but I’m so curious about the fallout back at the foundation (not to mention what became of Shane, Augustine, Ellie…). Recounting the extent of Tina’s injuries was hard to read but I loved how sweet and caring Bette is for her here.
