    She will be loved

“Anyway… Bette looks like a fun person to hang out with… do you think we could, you know… go out with her and her friends or… I don’t know, something?… you are right, we do need to unwind for a bit…we´ve earned it…” Julia said smiling brightly at the prospect of some fun.

Oh dear God… Tina’s stomach made a flop at the mere thought of Julia´s reaction to Bette.

“Yeah… whatever” Tina dryly answered, unaware of how much her face was and tone of voice were displaying.

Julia became aware of the change in Tina’s demeanour, but she still couldn’t quite figure it out, so she decided it was probably tiredness, after all she was beat as well.

“Well if you don’t feel like hanging out with Bette it’s okay… you know, Brian’s friend Mark is having a party somewhere near campus… so why don’t we get dressed and go have a little fun? We do deserve it TK… like you said, we’ve been studying all freaking afternoon…”

Tina was still annoyed at Julia’s reaction and was not in the mood for any party of any kind, or to see either Brian or anyone for that matter. But in that moment she gave it a second thought, after witnessing her friend’s excitement over meeting Bette she indeed needed a strong dose of alcohol.

Bette had finally reached her bedroom, still not able to shake the feeling that something was really off with her blonde friend. The brunette was more than ready to abandon her essay and go get some fresh air with Shane instead. She desperately needed not to think that night, and that usually required alcohol, big amounts of it. Bette knew that finding Shane on a Saturday night was rather easy, so a few hours later she had picked an outfit from her closet, added a little bit of makeup and out she was.

“Hey Bette! What’s up?” Shane was extremely surprised, and also happy, to see her friend at the club.

“Mmmm nothing much…” Bette had clearly become the new center of attention for all the ladies in that club, besides Shane of course.

“I thought you had a lot of work to do tonight” At that point Shane was certain something had happened for her friend to change her mind about going out, especially in finals season. And she was also pretty sure that that reason probably involved a certain blonde.

“Ahhh yeah… but I’ve been at it all day… so I thought… what the hell… a couple of hours won’t kill me, right?” Bette tried her best to sound normal and cheerful.

Shane just nodded and directed her attention again at a certain beautiful brunette she had been eye fucking all night, who happened to be dancing with a pretty blonde. And since there was nothing to their dance that would indicate anything other than a friendship between them, once Bette noticed her friend´s actions she released a sigh.

“Do I have to?” She asked, defeated. Shane looked at her with a mild grin.

“Do you have anything better to do in these couple of hours?” And as soon as she finished that sentence she started heading for that dance floor.

When they had reached their destination the brunette obviously was all over Shane and the blonde, well the blonde had no problems with what she got stuck with. After dancing to a few songs, Shane pointed at a table in the corner that by some miracle was empty.

Once they were seated Shane started whispering something to the brunette’s ear that caused her to visibly shiver.

“Bette, I’m going to get ourselves some drinks. Do you guys want something?” Shane asked as she got up.

“Ahhh wait… I’ll go with you” Bette quickly added and then addressed the blonde that was sitting next to her. “I’m sorry the music was so loud I couldn’t quite hear your name…”

“Ohh don’t worry, I didn’t get yours either” The woman was visibly excited to be sitting at that table and in that company.

“I’m Bette, can I get you something to drink?” She said, giving her companion  that million dollar smile of hers and of course she melted, who wouldn´t?.

“I’m Alice… and a beer would be fine, thank you Bette”

    1. Okay, things are moving along in 1996…. Tina has introduced Julia and is upset with Bette because some woman threw herself at her. Tina is smitten with Bette but does not want to admit it….

In the current day, Bette is drunk at her own bachelorette party and Tina shows up out of the blue and they can hardly have a conversation…

Seems that no matter what they do, they have trouble talking to each other…..

      Hope to see more soon..

    2. I like this story and I agree with Martha. They have a huge communications breakdown but I think it’s more so with Tina. She keeps too much to herself and when she does let it go she becomes highly irrational. She was the one that avoided Bette and would not speak or see her. She needs to grow up, get real with her actions and non actions and accept huge responsibility for the demise of the relationship. Why did Shane have to be the one to wake her up?
