Side Effects Chapter 6 – ADDING FUEL TO THE FIRE

Bette: “yes…, I’m getting sick too, but that is what they are, the most retrograde homophobic stupid people”

Tina: “and I can’t understand how Adele could pair with those pieces of shit”

Bette: “baby, I think, they all are birds of a feather, they will burn in hell”

Tina: “how many files could you open this morning? I have the feeling that their plans are there”

Bette: “I think I could do several, but, do you want me to start with the recently updated ones? Maybe they have new data or the information on the next abductions”

Tina: “yes, please; I’ll bring some breakfast”

    Bette: “thank you, honey”

When Tina went to the kitchen to prepare some food and coffee, Maura was already there, she had heard Tina talking in her bedroom with someone and Maura already guessed who that could be.

    Maura: “morning darling”

Tina: (looking everywhere) “morning Maura…, where is Jane?”

Maura: “she went early to the station along with Vince, almost everybody left, Tasha went to Alice’s house, it looks like Dana’s mother has some information, Dan received a phone call and left; only James, Bette, you and me are here, and of course the police protection in the back and front of the house…; Tina, is that Bette, the one you were talking with, in your room?”

Tina: “err.., yup; she is doing some computer things”

Maura: (smiling) “oh…, is her computer out-of-order?”

Tina: “okay Maura don’t be a smart ass with me…, she is helping me with some files that were encrypted”

Maura: “oh…, really? Tell me about it”

Tina explained to Maura about Coleman and the envelope, and Maura was perplexed, why Tina hasn’t told Jane about this.

Maura: “Tina, darling, are you aware that those files could be of huge importance in the case?”

Tina: “yes Maura, but we wanted to be sure Coleman won’t be summoned by the police, besides I wanted to know the content of the files before, just in case they were useless to this case”

Maura: “we…? who is the other person…, is it Bette?”

Tina: “no, the decision was taken by James and me”

Maura: “hmm…, did you find something useful for our case?”

Tina: “yes, but we are just starting, you can come to my bedroom to see how Bette is doing”

It was now around 10 a.m. and Maura and Tina are entering the bedroom carrying food and coffee when they saw Bette exhilarated.

    Tina: “what is, baby?”

Of course, Tina bitted her lips after the last word.

Bette: “they have Dana in a private clinic in Manhattan”

Maura: “does it say the address?”

Bette: “no, but it’s close to West Village”

Tina: (raising her brow) “How do you know?”

Bette: “the entry mentioned they had a meeting with a possible client, a doctor called Bjorn in ‘Arthur’s Tavern’ they pointed the place was close to the clinic”

Maura: “that is a good point of reference”

    Tina: “what is ‘Arthur’s Tavern’?”

Bette: “an old tavern in Manhattan”

    Tina: “have you been there?”

Bette: “no, but is very close to the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar”

    Maura: “let me call Jane”

Bette is opening now another document; this is a recent one, created three days ago, the title is ‘Next Tasks’ that she starts reading while Tina and Maura discuss how Jane was going to react when she finds out that Tina had all that information since the night before; Bette suddenly cries.

Bette: “sons of a bitch…, they can’t do that!!!”

    Tina: “what is it?”

Bette: “they plan to kidnap Carmen”

    Maura: “when?”

    Bette: “today at noon”

    Tina: “it’s almost 11 am”

    Maura: “I’ll call Jane”

Tina: “I’ll call Carmen and Shane”

Bette: “I need to go to my room to change clothes; I’ll be back in a minute”

    1. Hey Proteonomics,

      Fantastic update!

Thank you for the warning for page 7.

Keeping secrets to protect the woman or friends you love is hard and i feel sorry for both of them.

I hope they are able to save Dana, Carmen and all the others. Donovan and the other man are very creepy and sick man. I hope they torture and castrate them.

      Thank you for the update!

      • Hi, Bibi:

Thank you for your comment, yes this chapter is a little hard, I put here what I didn’t write in chapter 2, but I think it’s important to show the whole picture.

I agree with you, secrets are difficult to keep especially if they involve loved ones.

Unfortunately, more people will be abducted, let see what our friends would be able to do about that.

        I’ll try to post ASAP.

Thank you again for reading and commenting.

    2. HI Proteonomics,

Amazing update, although it’s really heart breaking,
Tina and Bette won’t be a classic couple unless facing all odds, feeling so sad for Tina about the trauma.

Bette’s computer abilities were really useful, hope that Dana and most of the girls can get rid off this catastrophe as soon as possible.

Can’t wait for next chapter, thank you for the astonishing story!

      • Hi, Laurel:

Thank you so much for reading and commenting on this chapter. It was also hard for me to write it.

Yes, Bette’s and Tina’s relationship has been shadowed by the wickedness of Tina’s vicious uncle, whose obsessiveness is growing as a snowball that is destroying many other innocent people.

I also hope Dana and all the other victims who still alive could be cure from the ‘poison’ injected into their bodies.

Thanks again for your comment, I’ll try to post soon

    3. Hi P

Thanks for this, really enjoyed it but need next Chapter as soon as please.

Love the story but my old brain means I have to keep going back to refresh my Memory. It’s not a great problem as I pick up new things each time I read.
