Side Effects Chapter 9 – FACING EVIL

Louise: “hmm…, interesting…, very touching…, but are you sure she is not pregnant?”

    Bette: “what…?”

Louise: “okay…, I talked to mom about you and Tina…, it looks like she believes in you blindly…, she didn’t know about Tina’s secret”

    Bette: “did you tell her?”

Louise: “of course, she is our mother…, she cried, she knew there was something wrong with Tina, but she didn’t know that beast tried to rape her too…, she blamed herself for Tina’s psychological trauma, I convinced her the only culprit was and is that monster…, now I have to tell her that Tina and you are going to marry and she won’t be there”

Bette: “well…, Tina is going to tell her…, tell me, Louise, does Mani knows Tina doesn’t have any idea that you are around?”

Louise: “mom knows she mustn’t talk about me with her, it is too dangerous for each of us”

Bette: “okay…, how about Imhotep…, is there any news?”

Louise: “I can’t tell, but Don Kennard will have problems soon”

Bette: “okay…, please let me know if you know something about the kidnapped”

Louise: “you will know through others…, Bette…, please…, take good care of my sister”

Bette: “be sure that I will, Louise”

The next day two cars came to pick up Bette and Tina to take them to the City Hall, Tasha was going with them; they arrived and after quick paperwork, they got their marriage license, the document specified that they have 60 days to get married.

Old Westbury, Long Island, Friday, 10 a.m.

Five days have passed and Sharon has made some progress with Dana, who is now talking with a little of difficulty with her

    Dana: “mom…, no shots please…”

Sharon: “shots? No baby nobody will hurt you…, mom is here with you”

    Dana: “uh, uh, mom, uh”

Sharon: “what is it baby…, tell me do you have a pain…, where is it, sweetheart?”

    Dana: (crying) “uh…, mom…, uh…”

Definitely, Dana is able to speak, at least some words but something is very wrong with her and Sharon wants to take her to a private clinic, but Howard doesn’t allow her to do that; they have been fighting the whole week and her husband has brought a little security army and she can’t leave the mansion nor even bring someone there, so her only option is to watch what the nurses are giving to her daughter, the one who came with Dana from her former captivity, Margot,  was hostile but the other two Eve and Sophie were a little gentile; Sharon has spoken with them showing her concern about her daughter and the nurses understood, but unfortunately they only obey orders from Howard and Sharon was informed of that. Mrs. Fairbanks, didn’t want to involve the police and of course neither Alice, who is pregnant carrying her grandchild; but she has to do something, she has to call a friend, someone to help her; she walked to her bedroom where she sleeps alone; the Fairbankses has been sleeping in separate room since Dana and Howie were in high and middle school. When she couldn’t find her cell phone, she interrogated the cleaning lady, who told her that Mr. Fairbanks had taken it and told her to inform his wife that he has the cell phone and send her to talk to him if she needs it.

      • Hi SG:

I’m sorry, I knew you don’t like cliffhangers, but I left a cryptic message in FB and twitter for those like you who don’t like them, and is also in my author note.

But, anyway, apparently, I will have a little more time next week and I will try to post soon (I hope).

        Thanks for reading and commenting.

      • Hi Bibi:

Thanks for your comment, I’ll try to update soon.

However, the ‘clue’ to solving the cliffhanger, is in those last two chapters. Then you may have an idea of what is coming in the next chapter.

The cliffhanger is the reason why this chapter is a bit longer than the former ones because I wanted to reach this point. Now, I’m feeling a little guilty.

Thank you so much, my friend, for your last words, and I’ll try my best to post soon.
