    Bette, Tina and Mrs Porter

     

    “Okay”

     

    “I will just lock my car and get my bag “

     

    She walked down the path – Tina took hold of Bette by both hands

     

    “Are you okay ?”

     

     

    “What the hell is she doing Tina ?”

     

     

    “I don’t know – how do you want to play this ?”

     

     

    “I want her to leave me alone “

     

     

    “If this gets too much I’ll get rid of her – even if I have to do it literally “

     

     

    Bette nodded “What is she after ?”

     

     

    “Lets see okay “

     

     

    In a few minutes they were all inside the house. Bette sat down and briefly looked at her hands – they were shaking. She put one hand into the other hoping they would steady one another. Tina sat beside Bette and rested her hand on her back. Bette’s mother sat facing the two women.

     

     

    “it’s a beautiful house “ she said looking around

     

     

     

    Bette didn’t reply – she didn’t want to make small talk. Tina went on the attack

     

     

    “You will forgive us if we don’t roll out the red carpet but you have to look at it from our point of view. We don’t know you from anyone else – you have shown up totally without any sort of warning and you expect Bette to just accept that you are genuine – that you are who you claim to be. Can you prove that you are who you say you are ?”

     

    Bette’s mother nodded

     

     

    “I didn’t for a second expect a warm welcome Tina “

     

     

    “How do you know her name ?”

     

     

    “I have been following Bette’s progress for the last year or so – you are Tina Kennard and you work as a movie executive and for the last 18 months you have been Bette’s partner”

     

     

    “You have been trailing us ?” Bette spoke

     

     

    “No – I have been following your career – I was at your last two exhibitions – the two of you are a very beautiful couple “

     

     

    “And at no point in the last year that you have been following us – which is creepy by the way – have you come across and introduced yourself ? “ Tina said

    6. I know Bette is pisssed, well probably more than pissed at her mom but I think she should at least listen to what she has to say. If Melvin has been untruthful to her all these years what makes her think he will tell her everything now? I don’t think her mom is trying to buy her affection how could she after 27 years. Speak to her mom and see what she has to say about why she left without her all those years ago and then talk to her dad and see if any of the story matches. Most mothers will not leave thier children unless something horribl ecauses them to. I hope Bette gets all her answers she deserves it and I’m glad Tina is right there by her side. PPS

    7. Nice twist girl. I think that Bette should talk to her mother to see exactly what she has to say. She has listen to Melvin all of her life and this way she will be comming from a position of strength and knowledge when she speaks to Melvin. At least her mother is adcepting of her and Tina as a couple. PPS:o).

    8. I would like to hear the reason Bette’s mother for abandoning her. Must be big if she schose to stayed away all those years. Is she sick? :D And the trust fund ha….curious…LOL
