Bette: After dinner, if you like, I’ll help you move your stuff back into your room.
Tina: Would you mind if we didn’t?
Bette: What do you mean? You would rather do it alone?
Tina: No, I enjoyed last night and I would like to just stay with you tonight, if you don’t mind of course.
Bette sat there and looked at me somewhat dumbfounded for a moment.
Bette: Sure, we can continue to share the room if you like… but you still have to wear socks.
Tina (laughing): Oh, absolutely. Not a problem.
There was a long period of silence.
Bette: If we are going to do this collaboration, we need to start thinking about how we are going to do this. We may need to have some face-to-face meeting to hash things out. I know that we can do a lot via email. But some collaboration takes talking ideas out and sometimes body language is a huge amount of communication and thrashing out the ideas.
Tina: Yes, I see what you mean. The first thing we have to do is to do some research and get the salient points we want to bring out in the book. We will have to some travel to interview people who surround the Bidens throughout their life time. I know he has a sister that he is fairly close to. There are his children of course. But those are the people who are going to give us the most positive slant on all the aspects of their life. We need to find some who knew him during his Senate years and Vice-Presidential years. No one is a perfect angel all the time. We need to find a few flaws to make him human.
Bette: Well, I know Biden has them. We just want to end up with a fair and balanced story. A mix of the good and the not so good.
Tina: Exactly. You know, if we have to spend a lot of time here in Maryland or in Delaware, maybe we need to rent an economical apartment. We could come when it was convenient and spend a couple of weeks and do our own cooking and save some money on travel expenses. Airline tickets can be $1,000 to $3,500 for a round trip. And if we can stay for a period of time and not fly as much, it could pay the rent for an apartment.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!

First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?

OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website.
