Tina closes her eyes and looks deep into her soul. She cringes. She doesn’t like what she sees. She’s finding it so difficult to trust Bette and she doesn’t understand why. She growls as she tries to figure out how to fix everything, how to let her walls down.
“Don’t you dare let Bette walk away!” Shane stands up quickly and jumps in front of Tina. She wants to fight for her new friend, for both of them. She knows they belong together. She looks from Helena to Tina and tries to keep her voice steady. “Helena has her own agenda. Bette never wanted anything but to live happily ever after with you. She gave up paradise to be with you. Don’t let her go Tina. You will regret it for the rest of your life.”
“Oh shut up, Shane. You and Dana only saw what Bette Porter let you see. She’s good! I’ll give her that. She even fooled the great Yoda.”
“Fuck off Helena.” Shane steps closer to Tina. “What matters is what you feel in here.” Shane taps at Tina’s heart. She gives her an encouraging smile and walks out.
Alice and Dana stand up too. They are both too confused and worried about the situation to do anything. Alice starts to speak but Dana pulls her away. They shoot Helena a shameful look and follow their wise friend out the door, not even bothering to look at Tina who stands staring blankly at the floor.
“What was Shane talking about, you having your own agenda?” Tina finally speaks after several long minutes. The bustling sound of the busy lunch hour is starting to settle to a quiet hum.
“I don’t know. Shane’s full of shit sometimes.”
“Helena!”
“What darling?”
“Tell me the fucking truth. I’m sick of being lied to.”
“You really want to know? I mean, all these years and you never had any clue. Do you really want to know now?”
“Fuck! Just tell me!”
“I love you, Tina. I’m in love with you. I just want us to be together.”
Tina stares sadly at her oldest and dearest friend. She blinks several times to clear her head. Not once did Tina ever consider anything but friendship with Helena. She trusted her because she thought Helena knew her best, because she thought Helena was acting out of the goodness of her heart. She really thought Helena was protecting her.

TINA,to be so in love with BETTE you doubt her at the drop of a hat. Promises comes out your mouth but dumbness creeps in your brain.
