The Real Tibette – Christmas 2023

    ***

    ‘Diarrhoea.’

    Tina’s nose wrinkled. Shane shrugged.

‘That’s what Sonny said,’ she went on.

‘Why didn’t she mention it?’ Tina wondered.

‘You tell each other that stuff?’

Tina looked at Shane for a moment. ‘Wait, is it Solly or Bette who has diarrhoea?’

    ‘I figured it was Bette.’

‘Well, then why would she go for a walk with the dog?’

‘Heeyyyyyy . . .’ This was Alice, sidling up as fast as she could beside her two best friends. ‘What’s the subject?’

    ‘The subject?’ asked Tina.

‘Yes, the subject. The topic, the theme, the issue. The matter at hand.’

Shane squinted at her. ‘Are you high?’

‘Noop,’ said Alice, scooping two glasses of champagne off a passing tray. ‘Here.’ She offered them to Shane and Tina. Tina accepted, but Shane declined. ‘What’s wrong?’

    ‘Nothing, I’m just . . . I got a thing later.’

Every cell in Alice’s body wanted to scream ‘I KNOW YOU DO!’ but she just gave a polite, noncommittal smile and kept the champagne for herself.

‘So,’ said Tina, ‘what’s this about Bette having diarrhoea?’

Alice blinked. ‘Bette . . . Yes. No, she does, which is why . . . Can I just ask who told you that?’

‘Sonny told Shane and Shane told me,’ said Tina.

    ‘Right.’

‘And apparently she’s taken Solly for a walk.’

‘Ah. No, that’s right, she has, but it’s Solly who has the diarrhoea.’

Tina looked at Alice, clearly not fooled for a second but also at a loss as to what on earth she could be covering up.

After about ten minutes, during which she’d read every single word of every single notice on the waiting room walls, Bette finally sat down. The waiting room was almost empty. Just a handful of people in everyday clothes, with pinched, worried expressions, or else on their phones, or just staring into space.

She crossed her legs and looked at her shiny black Louboutin heels. She’d had these for a long time. Seemed to remember getting them for the Emmys one year when Tina’s network expected to do especially well – and it had.

    Mmm.

Bette remembered how they’d made love when they got home. Tina was giddy, so very, very attractive, giggling, playful, her beautiful eyes sparkling as she told Bette how proud she was of their marriage, how thrilling it had been to stand on the red carpet and hold her hand and introduce her as ‘my wife’. These things that were now everyday, but the memory of their normalisation had a sharp outline.

Happy holidays to you also from across the big blue pond!

Interesting party with lots of extraordinary guests. Shame Bette couldn’t get to meet AB – but maybe will anyway.

Wow, Shane popping the BIG question. Hope this time its forever & they’ll both be happy together.

Gotta say that Sol might want to rethink about hanging around Sasha in the future – that girl is dangerous to be around!!

Thanks for another great glimpse into the wonderful life of Bette & Tina & their awesome family.

Thinking though that there should be a quick follow-up chapter about their Christmas Day though!! Ha!!

      Thanks for the treat.

      • Hi pal! YOu’ve just reminded me that I owe you an email! Oops. Really dropped the ball – sorry.

Thanks for reading this. And yes, I am moulding Sasha into being Trouble with a capital T. No fun if it’s all too easy, is there?? ;-)

I hope you’re well and that you’ve had a good time over the holidays.

    3. Sasha, Sasha, Sasha! Of course she will be the one telling tales of Mama T and Mama B to her children. What a pleasant surprise this Christmas night to find your story. And then to have Shane pop the question! Thank you for keeping the spirt of Tibette alive. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the readers of this site. Donate please!

      • Hi majic! Hope you’re well! Thanks so much for reading this story and for commenting. It means a lot to me. :-)

Y’know, it’s a real dilemma, writing this story, whether to skip ahead in time or not. In some ways, I’d really like to. I’me very drawn to the idea of writing B&T’s life with adult kids and grandkids etc. But then you end up skirting around the ‘d’ word and I don’t ever want to write that.

Agree about supporting this site! Hope you had a good time over the holidays!
