The Real Tibette – Christmas 2023

    ‘But—’

‘My aunt Shane told me she was friends with him and now he doesn’t even exist.’

The hurt in her eyes checked Herbie’s protests. Maybe it was a little more of an ethical grey area than he’d realised. He watched while Sasha went into her aunt’s room. This time she told him to hold on to Solly outside, and was gone a bit longer before she opened the door and gave Herbie a sly little smile.

‘What?’ he asked. ‘Did you find anything?’

Sasha nodded. Herbie raised his eyebrows expectantly, then noticed that Sasha had her hands behind her back. Then he watched as she brought them slowly into view, revealing a small black velvet box.

    ‘Oh,’ said Herbie.

‘You know what this is?’ asked Sasha.

    ‘Uh . . . A ring?’

Sasha nodded, her eyes round with excitement as she opened the box and showed the ring to Herbie.

    ‘Take it,’ she said.

    ‘What?’

‘The box, take the box so I can look it at it.’

    ‘Um . . .’

    ‘C’mon! It’s my aunt’s ring, she won’t mind.’

Herbie let Solly go and took the box. Sasha slipped the ring out of its holder and held it up so the diamond caught the twinkling lights in the hallway.

‘Wow . . .’ the girl breathed. ‘Y’know what this means?’

    ‘Your aunt’s rich.’

‘Yeah, but she’s gonna give this to her girlfriend.’

    ‘Oh.’

Sasha giggled quietly, excited at the thought of Shane and Jo getting married, remembering photos of Angie at her moms’ wedding, wondering when it would be and what she’d wear . . . So many questions! And then, somehow, the ring was on her finger, and Herbie said ‘You shouldn’t do that’, and then she went to take it off but it slipped and fell on the ground and Solly pounced and ate it.

Downstairs, Bette and Tina were talking to Helena, Peggy and Stephanie about their plans to renovate the cabin.

‘“Sympathetic” is the word that keeps coming to mind,’ Bette said.

‘Mmm, absolutely,’ Peggy agreed, accepting a top up of champagne from Angie. ‘Thank you, darling.’

‘Mummy knows the best carpenter,’ Helena said.

‘Yes she does,’ said Tina, with a cute, double-eyed wink.

‘But he has to finish school,’ added Bette.

Happy holidays to you also from across the big blue pond!

Interesting party with lots of extraordinary guests. Shame Bette couldn’t get to meet AB – but maybe will anyway.

Wow, Shane popping the BIG question. Hope this time its forever & they’ll both be happy together.

Gotta say that Sol might want to rethink about hanging around Sasha in the future – that girl is dangerous to be around!!

Thanks for another great glimpse into the wonderful life of Bette & Tina & their awesome family.

Thinking though that there should be a quick follow-up chapter about their Christmas Day though!! Ha!!

      Thanks for the treat.

      • Hi pal! YOu’ve just reminded me that I owe you an email! Oops. Really dropped the ball – sorry.

Thanks for reading this. And yes, I am moulding Sasha into being Trouble with a capital T. No fun if it’s all too easy, is there?? ;-)

I hope you’re well and that you’ve had a good time over the holidays.

    3. Sasha, Sasha, Sasha! Of course she will be the one telling tales of Mama T and Mama B to her children. What a pleasant surprise this Christmas night to find your story. And then to have Shane pop the question! Thank you for keeping the spirt of Tibette alive. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the readers of this site. Donate please!

      • Hi majic! Hope you’re well! Thanks so much for reading this story and for commenting. It means a lot to me. :-)

Y’know, it’s a real dilemma, writing this story, whether to skip ahead in time or not. In some ways, I’d really like to. I’me very drawn to the idea of writing B&T’s life with adult kids and grandkids etc. But then you end up skirting around the ‘d’ word and I don’t ever want to write that.

Agree about supporting this site! Hope you had a good time over the holidays!
