The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 5

Bette’s eyes studied the photo. “We look really happy.”

“We were. It was a great day. A great trip. We went to Maui. You guys got married on the beach and we all just vacationed there for a week.”

“Sidney really cares for me, doesn’t she?” asked Bette, staring in the past.

“She does. And you love her. But it’s not the same love you have for Tina. It’s never been the same. Even in this reality,” said Dana.

    “Really?” asked Bette.

Dana nodded. “Do you want these memories, Bette? I can give them to you now. I can give you all of your memories with Sidney. This time, you’ll have the emotional memories too. I can also give you the ones of me and Alice.”

Bette swallowed and looked at Dana. “Do you think I’m ready?”

Dana nodded. “Yes, I do. You’re going back to work on Monday. The more we do now, the more time you have to recover and get ready for Monday. And the faster you’ll get back to Tina.”

Bette smiled. “That’s the magic word.” She moved to her bed to lie down. “You have to hold my hand, right?” she asked.

Dana shook her head. “No. I just held your hand to comfort you. It just happens. There’s no physical component required.”

“Last time my nose was bleeding. These are more emotional. Will it be worse?”

Dana replied, “Maybe. But I don’t think so. It should get a little easier each time. It will make you tired though. And hungry.”

    “Let’s do this,” said Bette.

They lay down, side by side and Dana held Bette’s hand. “You ready, Bette?”

Bette said, “Wait!” She hopped up, hobbled over to her phone and left a text message for Tina. Then she lay back down.

She squeezed Dana’s hand. “Okay Dane, I’m ready.”

The flood of memories began. Bette waded through a sea of emotion. Touch, sound, smell, taste. Love, anger, pain, happiness, joy, apprehension, sorrow. She could feel herself making love to Sidney. Could hear the sound of Dana’s ragged breath when she stopped breathing. Could feel the strength of Alice’s embrace as they hugged each other tightly. Could feel the highs of her graduation and the opening of the gallery. Could taste the champagne from her first artist’s dinner and could even smell Sidney’s signature strawberry fragrance. It was all there. All mixtures and colors of her life’s experiences with her closest friends and her wife. It unfolded before her in seconds, embedded now in her long-term memory.

    1. Now, I’m hooked into this story….Bette has yet to realize that getting Tina back is going to take more than a few phone calls. They are both into rather complex lives which will need to be unraveled before they can be together as they were in the previous lives I wonder what Alice thinks of this new Bette?.

    2. Thank you for the new update!

So, Bette has some her memories from this reality back, it’s good. But what strange that she still didn’t ask herself why Tina has different second name.

      Ok, waiting for the next!

    3. Hi MTS:

Wonderful chapter, more information for Bette’s brain, and I see that Tina is very eager to talk and interact with Bette, Maybe she is also the woman of her dreams.

So sad that Dana would, eventually, be gone.

Bette is definitely changing and adapting to her new life, and now with Tina at her side, she may find out why they change into a parallel reality.

Thank you for the chapter, and pps.

    4. Very interesting way to prove that Bette was not dreaming…LOL. Nice chapter, hopefully T + B can speak on the phone undisturbed – meaning, maybe there is no more Eric or anyone to distract Tina from the call.

    5. The whole Bette and Dana conversation about shitting in your dreams had me in stitches. I means tears rolling down my cheeks laughing. This chapter was fun to watch ultra Type A not have a control at all, watching her get irritated and frustrated ready to flop down to die from her mindfuck.

      Brilliant!
