The Triangle of Love – Chapter 9
Shane put her arm around Danas shoulder as they walked back to Alice’s room. They saw Aidan and Alice sat in silence, however it was a comfortable silence, Alice grateful for Aidan being there and Aidan thanking God she’s alive. Shane and Dana entered Alice’s room and sat down on the chairs opposite Aidan, on the other side of Alice’s bed. Dana was about to reach out for Alice’s hand, before she stopped herself remembering that Alice didn’t have a clue who she was. Shane noticed this and took Danas hand in her own, comforting the brunette. Shane also grabbed Alice’s left hand, to comfort her too, and let her know she was there for her.
Shane: Alice, what do you remember about how you got here?
Alice: Nothing. I remember… being… at a bar… but then… nothing. Dana?
Danas head suddenly shot up as she heard Alice say her name. She quickly leaned forward and grabbed Alice’s hand out of Shanes, holding it tightly as Alice continued.
Alice: Is a… professional… tennis player… really… my best friend?
Dana dropped back into her chair, disappointed that Alice only remembered her for her celebrity status. She couldn’t bring herself to speak, so she just let go of Alice’s hand and grabbed Shanes, letting Shane know she wanted her to speak.
Shane: Alice, Dana is your best friend who loves you very much. You have been best friends for 5 years.
Alice: Okay.
She looked over to Dana, who was staring right back at her. Their eyes met, but no memory of the brunette being her best friend came to her.
Alice: I’m sorry I don’t remember you. Maybe we can start again?
Dana: NO!
Alice: Oh.
Dana had startled Alice, and Shane. Aidan decided now would be a good time to leave. He left his phone number on Alice’s bedside table as he wanted to visit her again. He waved towards Shane and Dana, who waved back, then left the room. Dana and Shane turned their attention back to Alice, who spoke again.
Alice: He’s… cute. And i… got his number.
Dana: Yeah, so he can visit you again. You’re gay Alice.
Alice: What? No… I’m not.
Dana’s heart broke into a million pieces at that moment. She didn’t remember her, she didn’t remember how Dana felt about her, and now she was pining after the guy who saved her. Dana couldn’t take anymore, which is why she felt the sudden wave of relief wash over her as Dr. Edwards entered the room and informed Shane and Dana they would have to leave now. Dana got up from her chair, grabbed Alice’s left hand a gave a small kiss to her palm, before walking out of the room. As Dana kissed her palm, Alice felt something weird in her stomach, but brushed it off as pain. She watched Dana walk out of the room before turning to look at Shane. Who was watching the pair.
Alice: She is… pretty.
Shane: Yeah. We’ll be back tomorrow okay? Get some rest and we’ll see you soon.
Alice: Okay. Bye Shane. And… tell Dana i… really am sorry.
Shane: Don’t worry, she knows. Bye Al.
Shane leaned down to kiss Alice on the forehead, being careful of her cut. This time, Alice didn’t feel the weird feeling in her stomach. She wished she could remember Dana, but there was just something blocking the memories coming back to her. Why could she remember Shane, but not her best friend? After Alice had been examined, she fell straight into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, in the car park Shane was talking to Dana.
Shane: Alice said she’s sorry, but you know that.
Dana: Yeah. I just wish she remembered me.
Shane: She will. Just give her time. As for her saying she’s straight, that’s an utter lie. I saw her face when you kissed her palm. She looked at you with love in her eyes, whether she remembers it or not. She also said you were pretty.
Dana: No she didn’t, you’re just trying to make me feel better.
Shane: No, straight up. She watched you walk out of the room and turned to me and said you’re pretty. I wouldn’t lie to make you feel better. I told her we’d be back tomorrow, so we can all get some rest.
Dana: Thanks, Shane.
Dana leaned in to give Shane a hug, which Shane gladly returned. They parted ways, Dana back to her house and Shane back to Jenny’s. Luckily, Jenny wasn’t in, so Shane didn’t have to explain the situation just yet. She got herself some food, grabbed a beer and sat on the couch, before falling asleep. At Danas place, Dana instantly dropped onto the bed, deciding to pass on anything to eat. All she wanted to do was sleep, which happened almost the second her head hit the pillow, her thoughts taking her straight to Alice.

I think Alice is blocking her mind because of her feelings, it is involuntary, but it is happening, poor Dana she doesn’t understand. Nice chapter, thanks again and I’ll be waiting for the update.
