THE VAMPIRE AND THE SLAYER- Chapter 6: THE PYTHONESS

Phyllis throw the stones again, she drew with ashes an imaginary board on the ground, then she chose some of the stones and put them on the top of the imaginary board, following put the rest in three rows of three columns.
Phyllis: “hmm, is more complicated…”
Taking another handful of stones the pythoness made an invocation in an unknown language, and then, chanting threw the stones on the imaginary board.
Phyllis: (opening her eyes wide) “that’s it…; the evil witch was looking for money, power, and treasure.”
Alice: (whispering) “isn’t money and treasures the same?”
Phyllis: (hearing Alice’s comment) “no, my girl, a treasure is jewels, art or relics or perhaps something more elevated, while money is just currency, whether coins, bills or banknotes, something ordinary but needed.”
Helena: “what about power?”
Phyllis: “it may be social or political…, let’s see what else we have.”
Phyllis took more stones from the bag and threw them on the board. Then, she selected other stones from the bag and put them in a small covered basket.
Phyllis: “this is only for the vampires, listen to me carefully, introduce your hand in the basket, and without seeing, pick up a stone, only one, don’t show it to anybody, just keep it with you, we’ll study it later”
Tasha: “who will pick up one for the unconscious girl?”
Phyllis: “that will be me”
After every girl took a stone Phyllis did the same and saved it in her purse.
Phyllis: “the attack you suffered more than two years ago wasn’t casual it was premeditated; someone wanted to capture a rich family, who belongs to that family?”
Nobody answered but everybody looked at Helena.
Phyllis: (addressing Helena) “do you have the stick with three branches?”
Helena: “yes”
Phyllis: “the witch wanted your family’s wealth…, but she also wanted treasure, someone here has a bright intellect and success…, who has the stone with the symbol of an inverted V for victory with the tip pointing to the left.”
Every vamp looked to their stone, but it was Bette who has exactly what Phyllis is describing.
Bette: “I have it.”
Phyllis: (watching carefully the brunette) “hmm…, yes that’s you…, tell me who was your father because I know you think he’s dead.”

Alice… Alice…. no one promised to make you human again. They purposed that they would make your life better – stronger, and abilities to escape some of the problems of being a vampire… but they never suggested that they could cure you… so as Phyllis say – take the offer or leave it.. Sounds like an improvement of your current life to me. So I’d go with the flow and accept this ritual….
Thanks for the update… look forward to more.
