“That’s what I thought you said!” Bette said grabbing Tina’s hand with her free one and leading her to the kitchen table.  They both quickly sat down with Bette setting the phone down and squeezed Tina’s hand like she would never let go

“Bub!..How did this happen?” Tina asked trying to be the calm one as she knew Bette was holding back from exploding but did not realize how the question sounded when it left her lips

“Mom you really had to ask that?” Hayden asks bewildered

Tina scoffed

“Well obviously I know how it happened but did you not think of birth control son?” Tina asked as Bette’s grip on her hand grew tighter.

“Well…I mean yeah…But…We didn’t a few times and she was on the pill so we thought it was ok”

Bette realized she had a death grip on Tina’s hand and released it. She closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breaths before opening them and proceeded into her questioning calmly

“Bub?…How far along is she?” Bette asked much to Tina’s amusement

“8 weeks.  We just found out yesterday.  I went with her to the appointment”

Bette let out a breath “Well ok.  And has Lexie told her Mom?”

“She is on the phone with her now”

Bette threw her head back and sighed.  She lifts it back up and turns to Tina “Hold on Bub” she says muting the phone

“Tina This can’t be happening right now”

Tina sighs “I know Babe.  I’m as shocked as you are but what can we do” she throws her hands up

Bette shakes her head. “I don’t know.  I know we are going to have someone knocking our door down or blowing up our phone any minute” she sighs unmuting the phone

“Bub we really don’t want to have this conversation over the phone.  When will you and Lexie be able to come home?”

“Uh..We we’re talking about tomorrow since we don’t have classes”

Bette looks over at Tina and gives her a nod

“Ok.  Just call when you are on your way and we will talk about this.  I’m sure her parents will be here before you two will”

“Uhmm..Ok..And please know I intend to do right by Lexie and our child.  This may have been unplanned but I’m going to do right by them”
