Bette: You want to answer it?

Tina nodded her head.

Bette puts the phone on speaker so Tina could hear in on the conversation.

Bette: Hello?

Marci: Bette I’m really sorry.

Marci sounded hysterical, sniffing into the phone.

Bette: Marci, what happened?

Marci: I’m sorry but I decided to keep the baby after all, there is…

Bette cuts her off.

Bette: Marci the fact that you’re just now telling us this shows the selfish person you are. Do you know what all Tina and I had done to prepare for this baby not to mention the money we have spent, how could you…

It was Marci’s time to cut Bette off now.

Marci: My baby’s father filed for sole custody Bette!

Bette: What? I thought you said he wanted nothing to do with the baby…I mean what about your parents, aren’t they against you having his baby because of his race.

Marci: Yeah I thought so too but as prejudice as they are, they’re more homophobic than anything. They agreed to support him taking care of the baby as long as I don’t give it away to you guys because your lesbians, they’re afraid you will corrupt the baby.

Bette closed her eyes shut and gripped the steering wheel tightly, Tina saw this and placed her hands on Bette’s shoulder to calm her down.

Marci: Three days ago he popped up out the blue once he heard I was coming to stay with you guys and declared he wanted custody. Believe me I wanted to bless you guys with this baby so badly but according to the law since he’s the father,  he has every right to file sole custody of this child and they more likely will rule in his favor even if I put the baby up for adoption. I’ll hate to put you and Tina in the midst of this drama because of my parents monomaniac ways, and I know I should’ve told you guys sooner but I was afraid of hurting you, I know how much you wanted this to happen.

Tina leaned closer to the phone so she could speak to Marci.

Tina: Marci, its Tina…how did your parents found out about the father, I thought they never meet him before?
