    Catherine hands me my phone back and I quickly set it back into my hand purse.  She stares at me and I can see she is actually considering this even though either way she releases Helena of her debt and pays her the money she is owed. “Look Catherine….You don’t love Helena or even care

    Catherine hands me my phone back and I quickly set it back into my hand purse.  She stares at me and I can see she is actually considering this even though either way she releases Helena of her debt and pays her the money she is owed.

    “Look Catherine….You don’t love Helena or even care about her..That’s obvious..She is only useful to you when you need a sexual favor or someone to run your games..So let’s cut the bullshit…Do you accept the stakes I have wagered?” I ask ready to get in with this

    Catherine continued shuffling the cards not taking her eyes off of me as she nods..Thank God she agreed

    “You have a lot of guts coming in here Bette Porter and challenging me but I’m going to enjoy having that Berigni hanging above my fireplace…And Helena is yours with her debt free and I will pay her the $850,000..win…or lose” she says as she shuffles one more time and pushes the deck over to me to cut which I do as she deals each of us two cards face down

    “The game is Texas Hold Em…Small blind is $100,000…Big blind is $200,000…Winner keeps the pot”

    I nod “Fair enough” I reply as I take a peak at my two cards and leave them face down.  I grab a $100,000 chip and throw it in the middle of the table.

    Catherine looks at her cards and immediately throws two $100,000 chips in the middle and looks at me for my move

    I throw another $100,000 chip in the middle as Catherine lays down a burn card from the top of the deck and flips over the next three cards revealing a Jack of Clubs, a Queen of Hearts, and a 3 of Hearts. She waits to see what I will do…And I check.   

    She smirks at this as she she throws two more $100,000 chips on the table.  I call her two $100,000 chips throwing them in the center and she raises her eyebrow.  The bitch expected me to fold.  Not a chance.

    Catherine places the next burner card on the deck face down and flips over the fourth card which is the 10 of Clubs.  Again I check.

    2. Wow, that was as lucky as you get!! One hand and its all over…… Three of a kind is usually a strong hand, but it can be beat – a flush of any kind would beat it. A straight of any kind would beat it. Four of a kind would beat it, and a Full house would beat it….. but that which beats everything in a Royal Flush.

      That was a high stakes gamble with that painting…..3.5 million, less the 850K, less Helena’s freedom, plus whatever chips she brought to the table – was her maximum loss. But for to Bette, it was worth the risk…. and win or lose, Helena would be free and have her earnings. That is a huge sacrifice Bette was willing to make for Helena. I mean huge…. This Bette has the heart and sole of a saint. Fortunately, Lady Luck smiled upon her. Oh, that I had a friend like Bette Potter!

      Thank you for telling this story….. amazing chapter really….. can’t wait for the next chapter….

    6. Wow, well that was some poetic justice. Catherine doesn’t know what hit her. She can’t even say that Bette cheated because she dealt the hand herself. I wonder how Bette got so good and lucky at poker? I can’t wait for the next chapter to see what is next.
