When You Least Expect It – Chapter 13
Nevertheless the brunette ignored her girlfriend’s pleas, her hatred for the man in front of her too great. "You know you’ve got a lot of nerve coming here. Did you think Tina was just going to welcome you back with open arms after you abandoned her and Angie? Leaving your own daughter behind, you’re the worst form of man. You disgust me"
"Bette" Tina said more firmly, her heart racing.
Bette looked to her girlfriend and in that instant she calmed significantly. She was upset and knew she had every right to be but she also didn’t want to make a scene, the man was still standing on the porch after all.
She took a deep breath and released it slowly, reading the silent thanks in Tina’s eyes.
"Let’s talk about this inside" Tina said finally, her shock of the situation at last beginning to wear off.
It was as if a deep dark emotion had been injected into her veins, fueling her entire body. In that moment, Tina suddenly felt herself hating the man beside her. She hated him for leaving, hated him for coming back. She hated him for ruining the moment she had been sharing with Bette, for threatening everything they had worked so hard to create. Things had been going so perfect.
It was funny because Tina had never before hated another human being, never even found herself capable of such an emotion but she somehow found the strength to hate the man beside her. Kevin Taylor. Someone she thought she’d never see again.
"Look no disrespect to you" Kevin said once he had entered the house. He gestured his hand between himself and his ex wife, "But this is between Tina and I. This is about our daughter"
Bette couldn’t help but laugh and shake her head at the ridiculousness of the situation, "Please. Was she your daughter when you left her and her mother to go fuck your secretary?"
"Baby" Tina warned again, her tone softer and more pleading.
Kevin fell into a stunned silence, watching the exchange between the two women. He watched as Tina caressed Bette’s arm in comfort, the look the gave each other was that far beyond anything two friends could achieve. Then there was that word . . .
