With another apology, the smaller woman hurried back to her desk.
“Sorry” Kevin smiled shyly when he noticed the irritated look on Tina’s face, “Don’t be mad at her. I sort of just ran around her desk”
“I’m not mad at her” Tina stated as she hung her jacket over her arm, raising an eyebrow at her ex-husband.
With another apology, Kevin cleared his throat. Surprising Tina at work was definitely not working out the way he had hoped. “I just wanted to see you. We haven’t spoken much since Angelica’s birthday”
“I know, I’m sorry” Tina sighed, feeling somewhat guilty. “It’s been really busy around here. We’re close to wrapping this movie and everything has just been hectic. I haven’t had time for much of anything”
“That’s uh, actually why I stopped by” Kevin cleared his throat again, “Can I take you to lunch? I know you’re busy and all but a girl has to eat right?”
“Actually, I was just on my way out” Tina flashed an apologetic smile as she swung her bag into her shoulder. “I’m going to pick up Angie from daycare. We wrapped early today”
Kevin eagerly jumped at the opportunity, the tone in his voice failing to hide his excitement, “That’s perfect. I can take you both to lunch and we can spend some much needed quality time you know, together”
Tina felt that dread return and settled in the bottom of her stomach. She couldn’t think of a excuse believable enough to get her out of the current situation, feeling compelled to do nothing other than take Kevin up on his offer.
“Sure. That sounds good”

Tina threw her head back and laughed at a memory shared between Kevin and herself. She hadn’t expected to enjoy her lunch with Kevin especially with conversation that focused mostly on past events but Tina found it wasn’t as bad as she initially feared. Angie even seemed to be having a good time, joining in laughter triggered by a conversation she didn’t understand.
Tina found herself feeling hopeful for the first time since Kevin re-entered their lives, genuinely believing in the possibility of maintaining a civil if not friendly relationship with her daughter’s father.
Wiping a tear from her eye, Tina tried to stifle another round of laughs that threatened to escape. “Oh God, I can’t believe I forgot about that”

About the chapter, Kevin is a nasty piece of ass.
I don’t understand why Tina didn’t tell the truth who was at the door.

I understand why Tina tried be friends with Kevin, but i think she need to stop be so naive about him. She alredy understand it, after his drunk appearance, but maybe it’s too late – he’s already made his plans about Angelica.

I think that Kevin, how stupid he is, understand that no judge gives him custody of Angelica. So i think he might to try another, illegal way to take Ange.

So glad Tina got wise to his lil game to win her back. After ABANDONING Tina and Angie and having NO RELATIONSHIP with his child, I can’t see a Court giving him any rights…he would have to have supervise visitation at best.
I love the way Tina Reassured Bette that she is her ONE AND ONLY!!!
Great birthday dinner with the Bracelet and the understanding that a proposal is coming one day…cute! I wished she would have told Bette about Kevin showing up drunk and looking to reconcile, but I understand NOT wanting to ruin their time together after a tough couple of weeks. I know Bette is gonna lose it when she finds out what Kevin is up to. She is very protective of Tina and Angie!
Glad you are feeling better, I had bronchitis in December it is hard on the body…the coughing alone make you so tired and sore. Take care and take all your antibiotics!

Ugh. Kevin is grinding my gears lol! I wish he’d just disappear and let Bette take over as the second parent role officially. Seems as if she has anyway. Ohhhh and I hope that’s a foreshadowing of a soon-to-be proposal! Love your stories. :)

Any chance u would make a sequel out of “as good as it gets” and continue with “never say never”? I am curious what kind of life does Tibette have with Tina become a famous singer and bette as a famous producer in as good as it gets or how Tina could finally fall in love with bette in never say never…i have to say from all of Tibette’s stories that i’ve read only in never say never Tina and Alice was sister.. and it’s quit refreshing..:D
