Bette couldn’t sleep that night; she was constantly seeing her mother’s face appearing from the shadows hidden in her hospital room; their conversation permanently stoned in her mind. “What are you doing here mother?” The razor sharp intensity in Bette’s tone spoke volumes of her feelings towards the woman that she called ‘mother’; a woman whose duties were more important than the needs of her own daughter. The less she saw of her, the better she felt about herself; Kit was her family now. Kit was Bette’s fortress; the steel boulder that kept her sane; her confident and savoir throughout her younger years. “That is no way to speak to me Elizabeth. Regardless of what your feelings are towards me, you will show me respect”. Twin pair of eyes warred with each other, mother and daughter continuing a fight that had earned the reputation among the Kaech-Schwab/Porter family as being unnecessary and ridiculous. “What do you want mother?” Mrs. Porter was a woman of many conflicting attributes who had lost her authority over Bette many years ago. In restrained anger she voiced, “You were the main event on the news last week Bette. Our name was plastered over every network that had right to a satellite dish. Keeping yourself out of harms way still seems to be a problem for you”. With heated irritation, Bette responded, “And yet you can’t seem to stay out of my life”. Realizing that this talk will lead to further arguing, she addressed Bette with her final stance, “You have a duty to your country Elizabeth and you will serve as you were raised to do so”. As she turned to leave, she heard Bette say, “My life is here. My family is here. Let someone else do what you obviously can’t do yourself”. Bette cuddled closer to Tina in hopes that her presence would force this nightmare away.
Life was slowly getting back to normal; Bette was at work on a part time basis, Tina was in the mist of discovering an antidote, Alice and Dana were falling more in love with each other every day, Shane was enjoying the single life of a wanted woman and Kit was becoming the reputable business woman due to the success of the Planet. The new addition to their close knit family was fitting right in; Kyle was loved by everyone. After celebrating Bette’s homecoming six months ago, the gang decided to make it a monthly ritual to hang out the Porter Kennard residence. The party was in full swing when the door bell rang unexpectedly. Alice voiced her thought out loud, “Kit, you are closer to the door”. Shaking her head in utter contempt, “Remind me why we are friends again? The connection seems to escape me at the moment” as she rose from the floor. Kit approached the door with a smile and when she opened the portal to welcome the person on the other side, the smile quickly left her face. “Hello Kit” Jeffrey announced with much pride, a smile bigger than the shining sun. “This is not happening”, Kit thought to herself. She knew that they couldn’t hide forever, but tonight was not the time to bring up the forgotten past. Kit was not even surprised to see her friend standing before her; a friend that took care of Bette and herself in their childhood youth. The amount of times that they had gotten themselves into trouble was bad enough and also embarrassing, but no matter what the punishment handled down, Jeffrey always managed to change the painful events into happy ones.

The length was just fine. :) I can see why Bette kept this a secret. Like she said, she wanted Tina to love her as Bette. Some people can’t see beyond a title, fame or wealth. I think Tina would’ve been star struck at first but she wouldn’t have cared if Bette was dirt poor. She would’ve loved her regardless. Plus, it’s not easy to believe a piece of news like, “Oh by the way I’m next in line to run my country. Can we have sex now?”
And miracles do happen…Yeh, thank you…and I agree with Succ1…no end in sight…I’m buckled and lov’n it!!!!

Wow, this story is still very intriquing. Bette as a Queen. Tina is as mad as a hornet’s nest, but I can understand Bette wanting Tina to love her for her and not the position. Does this mean that on the next flight to Bette’s country that we will find one Tina Kennard-Porter and a very handsome Kyle Kennard-Porter? Now that would piss off one mommy dearest. Yes you did great but now you have to post again. I do miss the dark/light angles hanging around though.
