Act XVI
Earlier in the day they had piled into James’ and Bette’s SUV’s for the family outing to the local tree lot to find the perfect Christmas tree. They had selected a 12-foot-tall Grand Fir for its graceful beauty and incredible fragrance. The tree was delivered a couple of hours ago and already the home was fragrant with the powerful citrus-like evergreen aroma.
The family worked together to decorate the tree. Even though there were differences of opinion as to colors and placement of lights and ornaments the result was perfect. The final touch was placing Leigh Ostin’s Angel tree topper from her ‘Angels Watching over Me’ collection. James did the honors as everyone gathered for the tree lighting. They turned out all the room lights and waited in anticipation. Children and adults alike applauded and squealed joyfully when the tree lights came on. The festive mood and decorations were reflected throughout the warm and inviting home.

Kit, David, Gina and baby Katie were the first to arrive for Christmas Eve dinner at Peggy’s. David, Gina and Katie stayed in Bette and Tina’s West Hollywood house so they can be close to Kit. They were scheduled to return to Boston on New Year’s Day as well and would be flying home on the Peabody jet with Winnie and the children.
David and Gina were delighted to shed the winter gear and not have to bundle up the baby in layers and layers that made it almost impossible for her to move her limbs. He greeted Peggy warmly. “Mrs. Peabody. It’s such a pleasure to finally meet you. Gina and I can’t thank you enough for making our travels so carefree. We were concerned about making the trip with the baby, especially with the holiday rush. It was a wonderful treat for us to fly over with your family. Winnie and the children were most welcoming.”
“David it was my pleasure, and please call me Peggy. Your little Katie is a doll. I can already see that she has inherited the Porter charm.”
“She is a charmer. She already has me tightly wrapped around her little finger and I’m not the only one.” He says nodding towards Kit who is holding the baby and making the rounds to introduce her to everyone.

Very nice holidays….nice trip for Bette and Tina in celebration of Bette’s birthday. Things are really going well for this family. Love how Angie and Peggy are so into each other. I am amazed that Peggy has taken on her role as grandmother as much as she has. Of course she has a full staff to assist with the mundane duties of cooking and cleaning which comes from a house full of people.
I presume that Sampson is a Pomeranian pup? I had a neighbor who had a red (orange) one. His name was Copper. I loved his cut little fox like face. Black eyes and black nose and wild fluffy orange fur. I always left my back door open for the cat to come in and out. So Copper would come visit us frequently. Sweet friendly little dog.
So Tina was tired on Christmas Eve? Could she possibly be pregnant? I assume we will see in the near future.
Thanks for this lovely chapter…..
