    She and Meg walk out of the main room and into a private room with a sign on the door: Staff Only. They walk in and Meg’s jaw drops. The room is full of art … paintings and sculptures. Meg – Wow … these are beautiful! The blonde grins. Tina – Aren’t they? I’m thinking of buying this

    Tina – Aren’t they? I’m thinking of buying this one for her birthday. She is in love with it! James will help me keep it a secret.

    Meg – Yes, I love it! Who is this artist?

    Tina – She is a new artist from … Alabama, I think. Bette has an unbelievable eye for new artists and has been responsible for more than a few career successes.

    Meg – How did she find her?

    They don’t notice that Eric just came in through the open door.

    Tina – She has contacts everywhere. And when her friends travel, they always tell her about something special that they saw. Bette used to travel a lot on business. But she is getting to be known nationally and people are sending her pictures of their art, trying to showcase it here. Now she mostly needs to travel internationally.

    Eric – I didn’t want to believe it …

    The two women turn around.

    Tina – Hey!

    Meg – Hey, Eric!

    Eric – It’s true, isn’t it?

    Tina – What is true?

    Eric – You and Bette.

    Tina presses her lips together.

    Meg – I’ll leave you two alone. (pause) I’ll be outside.

    She leaves the room.

    Eric – Is it?

    Tina – Yes.

    He chuckles sarcastically.

    Eric – A woman, Tina? You left me for a fucking woman?!

    She sighs annoyed.

    Tina – I left you because we were not right for each other, Eric.

    He looks angry and raises his voice.

    Eric – Bullshit! You left me because you fell for the charms of a dyke that I introduced to you!

    She puts her hands on her temples looking upset and sighs to regain her composure.

    Tina – I’m not going to make excuses! It happened and I couldn’t ignore my feelings.

    Eric – Were you fucking her while we were together?!

    Tina – No! Absolutely not! I ended our relationship … as soon as I realized how I felt.

    Eric – And when was that exactly?! During David Ross’ party?! All that joking about the two of you … was I the joke of the party after all?!

    8. I fell so far behind in reading this and just caught up! This story brings such a smile to my face and I still love every moment of it! I’m kind of happy that I didn’t remember the whole story so that it could still feel like it was my first time reading it too but I definitely remembered this chapter!
