"Aren’t you supposed to be excited at the prospect of living with me? Isn’t that what’s supposed to happen?"
"Instead, I’m questioning the realities of who we are?" Tina asked.
"Maybe you never want to make a commitment to me; I don’t know."
"I’m more committed to you than I’ve ever been to anyone," Tina said.
"Weekly sleepovers for three months is as much as you’ve ever managed?"
"Commitment takes place in your heart and in your mind," Tina replied quietly. "It’s not about our physical proximity, or whether we share a house, or a measure of affection. We can enjoy the early stages of romantic love for a while. We don’t have to live together to make it more real."
"In my heart and in my mind, I’m committed to you," Bette said.
"What more could I want?"
"A couple glasses of decadent wine?" Bette suggested.
"How can I not love someone who already knows me so well?"
"I’m perfect for you," Bette stated factually.
"I happen to think you are," Tina said.
"But you don’t want to talk about living together yet."
"We’re living together for the weekend," Tina said.
"That’s what I get for now – the occasional weekend away?"
"And Friday nights," Tina added.
"Is it that you want me to court you?" Bette asked
"Maybe we can be less concerned with making things happen and instead simply let them happen."
"Because I can be romantic," Bette continued.
"I have no doubt you can be romantic," Tina replied. "I’ve seen evidence to support your contention."
"Always extolling virtues of the evidence – are you ever not a lawyer?"
"You can tell me if you think I’m acting like a lawyer when we return to our room after dinner."
"Now you’re trying to distract me with promises of impending seduction."
"The seduction is an all day affair," Tina said.
"I like the sound of an all day affair."
"This affair has the potential to last a lifetime."
"For better, for worse?" Bette asked
"Careful."
"I’m well past being careful with you," Bette said.
