Butterflies in the Stomach

”Oh my God…Oh my God…” holding my stomach, I cry, out of breath.
”Aahhh,” I hear Tina release a breathless, exhausted groan.
I wipe tears from my eyes and sense the laughter begin to die down. Still resting on the floor, I lift my head and strain my ears.
”Tina? Are you there?”
”Yeah,” comes out a hoarse response.
”Can you please explain what exactly just happened?”
”You almost burned your kitchen, Bette…”
She says it in such a cute, funny, exaggeratedly mournful voice that I feel a new bubble of laughter rise from my stomach, so I quickly try to defeat it. ”That wasn’t me…”
”You increased the heat to high. You shouldn’t have done that…”
”But I wanted to make it all quicker!”
”You don’t do this to an omelette.”
”Nothing would’ve happened if you hadn’t distracted me with that damn cheese,” I say in a good-natured tone of voice.
”Nothing would’ve happened if you hadn’t increased the heat to high, Bette…”
She’s teasing me and I like that. Getting to my feet, I walk slowly toward her. She’s sitting on the floor as well, leaning against the counter. I come to stand in front of her and smile down at her. She smiles back. I grin. She grins back and shakes her head. I then hold my hand out to her and help her stand up.
”From now on, when I suggest we order takeout,” I utter softly, looking closely into her warm hazel eyes, her hand still perfectly rested in mine, ”before you say no, bring to mind July 17th.”
She smiles shyly and lowers her head, probably feeling uncomfortable under my gaze. Aww, my cute little baby.
”I will,” she answers in a near whisper.
So here we are, eating Thai food takeout. Tina was a little difficult when I told her I’d pay the delivery man – she wanted us to split the payment in half, meaning I were to pay for my order and she were to pay for hers. I almost recoiled at this horrendous suggestion. I wanted to give her a good shaking for her excessive, unnecessary concern in such trivial matters, but, controlling myself in front of the delivery man, I assured Tina in a courteous manner that I’d let her pay some other time. Not.

Hi Valerie:
That was wonderful chapter; your stories always lift my mood, what a nice and humorous afternoon at Bette’s apartment; that was really hilarious, I love this story; indeed, though being almost the opposite one of the other, I love both of your stories.
I think Bette is lost, she is totally infatuated for Tina, and I think she is going to keep falling more and more for her.
They come from so different worlds and, as when they talked about their hairs, each of them feels attracted to some aspect of the other, I’ll say they may complement each other. I like that Tina is looking at Bette in a friendly way, maybe more than that, she mentioned about her beauty and her body; which lead me to think Tina already ‘checked’ on the brunette.
Careful Bette the best hunter can also be hunted.
What a great chapter, please Valerie, update soon, I’ll be eagerly waiting for the updates of your stories

Great story with good humor. I laughed a lot. It’s a pity there’s no sequel.
