    Chapter 15

    (Tina) Probably a good idea

They share another amused look before the waiter arrives and places their bill on the table. Tina casually reaches for it and Bette goes to take it from her.

    (Bette) I’ve got it

    Tina smiles at her.

(Tina) You got the last one baby

As Tina signs she steals a glance at Bette.

(Tina) You owe me an office story, I won’t be forgetting

Bette smiles at her for a moment before looking down. Tina stops what she is doing and frowns.

    (Tina) What is it?

    Bette looks up at her.

(Bette) Thing is, I don’t think there is one. Another one, I mean

Tina continues frowning at her as she searches Bette’s face. She speaks with obvious confusion in her voice.

(Tina) We never again had sex in your office after we married?

Bette looks back at her and shakes her head slowly.

(Bette) Not that I can think of, no

Tina continues to look at her as the waiter stops past the table and collects the bill.

That evening, Tina’s house. Tina answers a knock at the front door and opens the door to Alice, who is standing with two overnight bags at her feet.

(Tina) Hey Al, thanks for coming

    (Alice) No problem TK

    She hands Tina the bags.

(Alice) I think I got everything

(Tina) Thanks. Do you have time for a wine, or do you need to rush off for your date?

(Alice smiles) I have time. I’m meeting her at 8, and I can go straight from here

    (Tina smiles) OK

They move through to the kitchen together and Alice takes a seat at the island bench as Tina fetches a bottle of wine and two glasses.

(Alice) So, how are you going here?

Tina nods as she pours their wines.

(Tina) OK actually, having Angie here helped

Alice nods as she has a sip of wine.

(Alice) And things went OK with her? Spending time together?

(Tina smiles) Yes, I loved it. She really is wonderful

    (Alice smiles) Yeah

Tina takes a seat opposite her and stares down at her wine for a long moment. She eventually raises her eyes and looks to Alice.

(Tina) Al, can I ask you something?

Alice looks back at her, noticing her serious turn.

    1. Okay, Tina is now threading on the edges of seeking the information of where and why they are where they are now. It is obvious that Tina and Bette still are in love with each other… and in the current life Tina is not happy with her current life and would like to get Bette back into her life. But what happened to break the two apart? I get the feeling that Tina initiated the split between the two? And sense Angie sees a great deal of animosity between the two with no memory of happiness, this being apart has gone on for a long time. You know that it is hard to repair that which you do not know is broken…. sooner or later, Tina has to face what their real history is…. I just hope she and Bette can find a path back together.

      Thanks for the chapter….

    2. Oh, we’re edging closer to what really happened when it all fell apart. I really hope their loving time together and the reminder of the best memories they had back then will reframe that devastating breakup and that they will both see it and all the ugly things that happened afterwards from a different perspective. Here’s hoping Bette and Tina’s enduring love for each other will eventually win and they will find a way back to each other despite all the hurt and pain they’ve gone through. Thank you so much for this chapter and this lovely, well-written and very interesting story, katynd!❤ Happy Thanksgiving!

    3. I wonder how close Tina is to facing her “fear” of why she & Bette had come to the point where animosity became their 1st option when dealing with one another. Somebody will rip the bandage off and reveal whassup . . . I just haven’t figured out who.

This is such an intriguing story.

Anyway, “playful” Tina may be able to wear cautious Bette down in time, so that the past can be discussed, grieved over and put to BED.
