    Tina nods.

    (Tina) I think I’ve always been focused so much on what I don’t want, and trying to avoid that, that I really have never properly considered what I do want. What kind of situation actually does work for me

    (Bette) And what is that?

    Tina smiles and shrugs.

    (Tina) Exactly what we’ve been doing this whole time

    They smile at each other.

    (Tina) Helena described it as the perfect scenario for me. Love without commitment

    Tina smiles at her.

    (Tina) You’ve made me feel so safe, and not pressured. I’ve been just so happy in the moment with you

    Bette smiles as she listens.

    (Tina) I’ve never felt that before. Able to relax and drop my guard and just be happy. Because I didn’t feel you pushing me towards a particular future. I felt constantly reassured by you that you weren’t asking for more from me

    (Bette) I really never was

    (Tina smiles) I know

    They smile at each other.

    (Tina) I think Helena’s seen it the whole time actually. The potential for us to be compatible. She thinks I shouldn’t give up on finding something with someone that works for me. And that that person might be you

    Bette smiles.

    (Tina) She also told me she was responsible for you ambushing me at work

    (Bette smiles) Right. Well I wasn’t going to mention that. I didn’t want to get her in trouble

    Tina smiles at her.

    (Bette) And to be fair I’m not sure she would have expected I’d just turn up like that

    Tina smiles and raises her eyebrows.

    (Tina) Probably not, no

    They lie in silence for a while, both taking a moment to gather their thoughts. Bette looks over at her, and reaches for her hand.

    (Bette) Tee, if we choose to continue with this, we have complete freedom to do it however we like

    Tina nods, looking downwards for a moment and then raising her eyes to Bette.

    2. Okay…. an exclusive relationship which is not necessarily going anywhere? Whatever works. Glad they talked and worked it out. I’m not sure what they have decided anything except for the labels which represent what they are already experiencing and to continue and see where this goes. There are no expectations for the future. But there is an underlying desire that they will do the future together whatever that is.

    6. Whew! What a cliff hanger you left us in 15. A new flavor to the Bette and Tina story is really appreciated!

      As an aside, I wish you had added health issues/STDs as support for Bette’s exclusivity request. I don’t think we talk about or address STDs. Not all partners are “safe”. Remember we are a collection of all of our active partners.
