    Chapter 2 – Philadelphia – Day 1

Tina:  I expect we will get a bill for the time members of the firm spend with us as well.

Bette: Probably. But I don’t care about that either. This is our one shot and we need to go through the process or we will wonder about this for the rest of our lives.

Tina:  Bette you know that the probability of finding anything relevant is not very high.

Bette: Yes, but I have to look. I’m driven to make this effort. Oh, and I asked if I could review any files on Maxine Brown Porter as well. After all, Maxine is dead too. And she has been dead for almost 40 years.

Tina:  That’s good thinking. Does Mary know?

Bette:  No. I did not think it appropriate to tell her right now. If there is something she should know about the contents of those files, I’ll tell her about them. Now we need our phones fully charged. We may need to take photos of certain documents. I don’t know if they are going to allow us to make copies. And make sure you have your reading glasses.

Tina:  Yes, I have a couple of legal pads to make notes on. We also both have our laptops.

Bette: I think we are ready. Why don’t we just take a cab over to the law offices instead of getting out the SUV. The offices are several blocks away, but I don’t want to try to find parking in downtown Philadelphia.

Tina: Suites me. We can always return to the hotel and get the SUV if the need arises.

They finished their breakfast and went back to the hotel room to freshen up, grab their brief cases and head to the law offices of Wescott & Potter, LLC.

They entered the huge lobby which looked more like a hotel than an office building. They signed in and said they were there with an appointment with Graham Grubbs at 10:00 am. An assistant to Mr. Grubbs came and found them and took them to the 9th floor of the building. They were then shown to a conference room and offered coffee. They gladly accepted and noticed that a coffee service had been set up on the credenza, so they helped themselves. Shortly after their arrival, Mr. Grubbs came in and introduce himself and then picked up the phone and asked that the files be brought in. As an assistant was putting the files on the table, Mr. Grubbs began his spiel.
