Chapter 32 – More Packing
Tina: Sounds about right. You know, if something really special comes up, we can always buy a new frock.
Bette: Well, I need to wear these gowns more often. Of course, being a college professor, I doubt I am going to need that many gowns. I’ve kept several of my cocktail dresses and outfits. Most of the time, that is what we will need more so than a formal gown. Okay, let’s get to it.
Bette directed her energy toward meeting her objective. She was decisive in her decision making and efficient. Once she was finished, she went back through and reorganized her wardrobe and inspected her selections. She found one or two more blouses to dispose of and one pair of slacks. She was then satisfied that she had the wardrobe she needed. With these clothes and those in Redondo Beach, she was ready for her new life as a college professor.
Tina was satisfied that she had the right wardrobe for her new life as well. Most of work would be performed in older casual clothes. She would have some suits and dresses for business occasions and cocktail wear for receptions she would be attending as Bette’s spouse. She had several formal gowns as well, most of which had never been seen outside the entertainment industry. She was pleased with what she had accomplished.
Bette and Tina then went around and inspected the drawer and made sure they were empty and that everything was ready to be packed by the movers. After their coffee break, they would attack the bathroom and clear out everything they had except for their make-up and shower bags which would be leaving with them at the end of the week.
Bette and Tina joined Mary, Angie and Daniel in the kitchen for morning coffee. Everything was moving along well. Mary reminded them that the winterwear in the closets need to be reviewed but that the main floor should be finished except from the store room/laundry room off the kitchen. They agreed to take a look and see what needed to be done in there. They would then distribute the clean clothes and linens, take their naps and then get ready for dinner with Marilyn.
Tina had ordered pizzas for lunch which would be delivered. Daniel was thrilled. Pizza for him really was a treat. Bette and Tina had made it a habit to have healthy meals and pizza did not meet their criteria. It is not that they objected to pizza, it was just not a regular on their menu.
