Chapter 32 – More Packing
Once coffee break was over, everyone went back to work. Bette and Tina went to the closet with the winter coats to determine what should be sent to Santa Monica and what should be given to charity. Daniel had three coats, and all three he had out grown. They were given to charity. Angie had already transferred her coat to the racks and had been warped and were ready to go. Bette and Tina had two coats each. They choose to keep one each and dispose of the other. When they saw all the ski clothes, they decided to keep two outfits each and dispose of the rest. Bette then encouraged Daniel and Angie to donate all the winter equipment to charity. If at some point in the future, they obtained a residence in snow country, they would simply purchase what they needed then.
So, everyone got busy. Bette and Tina moved those items to their closet which would be sent to Santa Monica. They then proceeded to the bathroom and began the process. Most of this was going into the garbage. A few unopened bottles of cleaner, lotions, shampoos went into a box to be shipped. Because Tina had worked her portion, the bathroom was finished rather quickly. They packed most of the linens in a box and put the box in the going to Santa Monica stack. Bette then reviewed to make sure all boxes were sealed and labeled. The room was then finished except for the linens on the bed and the towels they would use the rest of the week.
Tina came out and asked Daniel and Angie to carry out the bags of garbage and to put the charity bags in the living room. Mary announced that they had completed everything except for the laundry and storage room. Another hour or less and they would have packed all that could be packed. Bette decided to go upstairs and do a walk through and see what else to needed to be done. Tina went to look at the storage room and wait for the call from the doorman that the pizza was here.
Bette looked in every closet and in every drawer except for the rooms which were occupied to be certain everything had been packed. She looked in every bathroom to make sure all the excess linens and supplies had been packed. Everything was gone. In the den, there were empty shelves and tables except for the controls for the tv and the area behind the bar. Bette smiled. The upstairs had been completed. She then went down stairs and looked at the living room and the hall storage closets. Everything had been removed. She then went to the dining room and found a table full of lamps and breakable things which had been in various places in the apartment. She made a note that on Saturday morning, everyone needed to bring their lamp to the dining room and to pack the remain linens into boxes and mark as what was dirty and what was clean. She also needed to have the charity called to pick up all those things. She would have the doorman handle if they were out.
