Chapter 33 – Days of Fun and Then New Haven
Their dinner was ordered. Bette and Angie had Icelandic cod, Mary and Tina had braised veal and Daniel had a New York strip steak. In addition, they ordered some mixed greens and spinach for side dishes. Then for dessert, Bette, Tina and Angie ordered an apple tart. Mary choose the Souffle Grand Marnier and Daniel had some French pastries with ice cream and chocolate sauce. They all had their customary after dinner coffee and talked about their day and how wonderful it has been just to spend time together. The museum, the park, the theatre and topped off with a wonderful French restaurant, it had been a very full day.
It was getting late. Most of the patrons had left the restaurant. Bette paid their bill and directed the crew to walk east to Madison Avenue and cross at the light and then proceed to the middle of the block to their apartment. The doormen greeted them in a warm and welcoming manner. Tina smiled and thanked them for what they had done for their family over the years and then bid them goodnight.
Once inside the apartment, they all said goodnight and how much they had enjoyed their day. Bette told them that the next day would be another day of fun, but they would want to get started about 8:00 o’clock. They would choose the agenda for the day at breakfast. They then all went through another rounds of hugs and kisses goodnight and then went to their rooms to get some much-desired sleep.
Tina took Bette by the hand and led her to the bedroom where she turned Bette around and kissed her with the love and devotion that made Bette feel wanted, needed and loved. Bette responded by pulling Tina in closely and holding her tightly.
Bette: Are you tired Sweetie?
Tina: Yeah, I am. Nice day, wasn’t it?
Bette: I enjoyed it. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves. Daniel loves music so much, doesn’t he?
Tina: Yes, he does. And he loves art in all shapes and forms. But he loves music. It seems to speak to his soul, just like visual arts speaks to yours.
Bette: Let’s get these clothes off. I need to give my feet a little time out of theses shoes.
