Chapter 33 – Days of Fun and Then New Haven
Tina: I didn’t notice that. Are you sure?
Bette: You have been involved in the art. That’s my job to notice what is going on around us.
Tina: Hey, why don’t I have our picnic basket delivered to a specific place in the park say at 1:00 and we can go to the commons and have a lunch.
Bette: I don’t think they will deliver to a specific place in the park. I’ll stop by and pick it up and then walk to your drop off spot and then we will walk to the commons. We can stop at the hot dog stand here at the museum and get us all a corn dog to tide us over until lunch. Those are no more than a snack.
Tina: Okay. That sounds good.
They joined Daniel in the hall and proceeded to the sculpture exhibit. There were dozens of large marble sculptures of various human forms in varying amounts of clothing. This was the first time that Daniel had noticed that many of the sculptures were totally nude but had magnificent muscle structure. They were huge and except for their color, seemed so very much alive. Most of the exhibit was from the time around Michelangelo. Angie could not take her eyes off the sculpture. The beauty of the human body was well on display in this exhibit. The faces were young and angelic in expression. After seeing all the statues, they started to head for the exit. Bette suggested everyone use the potty one more time if they could. They would head for the park.
Tina went down the huge steps to a street vendor who served hot dogs. The bought 5 corn dogs and 5 small bottles of water. The then went over to a bench and enjoyed their snack.
Daniel: Is this lunch?
Angie: No, we are going to have lunch a little later. This is to tide you over until then.
Daniel: Oh good. I really enjoyed that, but it wasn’t enough.
Angie: Don’t worry bro… you know our mamas will not let you go hungry for long. They have a plan and on that you can count.
Bette got up and indicated they should throw away their trash and head for the cab stand. She then indicated that she would meet Tina and her crew at the designated place to go to the park. Tina, Mary and Dan were off in their cab. Bette went to a deli near the East 59th Street and 5th Avenue which had prepared a picnic basket for her. Bette and Angie then walk over to the entrance to the park where Tina, Mary and Dan were waiting on a bench.
