Chapter 35 – Labor Day and More
Bette: Well, do not pay the contractor until they are delivered and you approve them. Make sure that the wheels have locking devises on them and that you can move them across the floor by yourself.
Tina: And the floor is beautiful. They just stained and sealed the cement. It looks like an ancient marble floor. They have a nice gloss on them and they will be easy to keep clean and maintain.
Bette: Can’t wait to see it. Maybe we can go after dinner?
Tina: Yeah, that would be good. I’ll take my camera and a few clothes over when we go. I’ll need to make a supply list as well. I need a full bathroom kit, some coffee and creamer and maybe some snacks or lunch stuff. Oh Bette, I am so excited. Oh, and I need some music too. I guess most of our stuff is still in New York?
Bette: You can use your play list from your cell phone or you can set something up on your computer and plug in your music system. I’m sure Daniel can help you with that. He is our music expert.
Tina: Oh, that’s a good idea. So, what would you like for dinner?
Bette: I don’t know honey. I can eat whatever. What does Daniel want. Tomorrow is his first day at Whittington. So, something that he would like I think would be appropriate.
Tina: We had steak last night, so how about some chicken. Let’s have some roasted chicken, some macaroni and cheese and some roasted vegetables and maybe some asparagus.
Bette: Sounds good. I’m going to change clothes and I’ll be back to help you.
Tina: I’m going to start the water to cook the noodles and then I’ll get the chicken ready to go into the oven. When you come back, we will start of vegetables – squash, zucchini, carrots and a little bit of onion. Oh, and the asparagus.
Bette: We need to eat early if we are going to Santa Monica. Thirty minutes there and thirty minutes back and I will want to look around. We will want to go to bed by 9:30 or 10:00 at the latest. Where is Daniel anyway?
Tina: He’s getting his backpack ready for school tomorrow. I had him out all day. He’s really excited about his first day of school.
