Chapter 35 – Labor Day and More
Tina drove to the Porter-Kennard Studio. There was no sign yet, but the front windows had been covered to keep people from seeing what was going on in the inside of the building Tina did not have her sign which indicated that she was an appointment only establishment.
Tina pulled around the back of the building and opened the garage door and pulled inside the building. Once inside, she closed the door and asked Daniel not to get out of the vehicle until the door was completely closed. Tina got out and went and turned on the house lights which were just enough light to walk around. There were other lights which could be turned on in each room which gave enough light to read, or paint and do to detailed work. Bette was impressed with system of lighting.
Bette: Evidently, your experience with lighting in the film industry is carrying over into your studio. I’m impressed. I wish I had consulted you when I had my gallery constructed.
Tina: I spent a little extra on the lighting and the climate control features. I want to see what my work looks like in proper lighting. I would rather not be surprised and find out it looks nothing like I thought it did.
Bette: They did a nice job on the garage. May I help you carry something?
Tina: Sure. Why don’t you take this suit case and let’s go through that door to my private quarters? Daniel, why don’t you go get started on that music set up. We will be putting this stuff up and walking around.
Daniel headed for Tina’s office to get on the computer and start down loading music. Tina headed to her closet to hang her clothes up. Bette opened the suit case and started to put the clothes into the chest of drawers. Tina didn’t have a whole lot to unpack. She looked around and looked at her bathroom – laundry room combination. It was well constructed with nice tiles and a single sink and cabinets. There was a nice walk-in shower and a stylish toilet and a nice size counter. There was a built-in linen and supply cabinet and room for the washer and dryer. There was a fairly good size walk in closet next to the bathroom. The floor was vinyl planks and Jim had found an attractive rug for the floor, a coffee table, sofa, side chair and side tables. There was the Murphy bed on one wall with book cases on either side. There were lamps on the side tables. There were no knick knacks on the book shelves but this was the first day she had been in the place. Bette thought it looked like a comfortable place for Tina to relax when it was needed.
