Bette:  That’s good. I’ll be back in a minute.

Bette scurried upstairs and changed into some more relaxed clothes. She was ready to ditch the bra for the day. Bette thought it strange, but she only became aware of it at the end of the day. Otherwise, she never thought about it. Her feet were also tired. After spending a summer in sneakers, her feet were not as accustomed to the heels which accentuated her outfits.

After changing, Bette knocked on Daniel’s door. He said for her to come in. She went and hugged her son hello. This was the first time today that she had seen him. He seemed happy to see her. He decided he was finish with his chore and decided to accompany her to the kitchen.

Bette got busy chopping the vegetables while Tina instructed Daniel on how to make her style of macaroni and cheese. She had him add the cheese, milk and butter and then stir in the already cooked elbow macaroni. She then poured the mixture into a casserole dish and put into the oven. When the dish was about three-quarters cooked, they would add an additional topping of cheese.  Daniel loved working in the kitchen.

Bette had finish with the vegetables that were to be roasted. Tina put those in a roasting pan and seasoned and put those in the oven. The chicken was already cooking. All was left was the steaming of the asparagus.

Tina told Daniel that they were going back to the studio so that Bette could see it. She then asked while they were there, if he could set up some music to be played into her work room. Daniel’s eyes got big and he got excited. They then discussed during dinner what she wanted to listen to. She decided that she wanted three different playlist – a classical, a series of ballads or romantic type songs and a series of rock and roll or high energy music. That would be a start. She would ask for his help when she decided that she wanted something different. They talked music for the rest of the dinner.

After dinner, Bette and Daniel cleaned up the kitchen while Tina went and picked out some clothes that she would be comfortable to paint in. She knew that once she designated those clothes as paint clothing, they would not be for any other purpose. She also decided to put a set of business clothes and heels in case she needed to go to the school or had an impromptu meeting. She would also take some appropriate underwear and the bare basics in a make-up kit and shower bag. She felt that as long as the family resided in Redondo Beach, she needed to be prepared, but once the move was made to Santa Monica, there would be little need for business clothes since her entire wardrobe would be ten minutes away.
